Even Bejart thought that Sylvie was UNBELIEVABLE~!

Bajart is right when he says that Sylvie Guillem was unbelievable, but Sylvie Guillem was also very lucky because she joined the Paris Opera Ballet while that was under the direction of Rudolf Nureyev. It was Nureyev who detected her talent early on and promoted her instantly in to the principal dancer's position because he knew by his own experiences that age DOES matter in Ballet. If Guillem joined the Paris Opera Ballet under anyone else's management she would have to wait for years to get promoted due to the bureaucracy and the old fashioned ranking system.
