Mauricio Lara - Is a Mexican professional boxer who has held the WBA featherweight title since February 2023. On 13 February 2021 Lara faced undefeated former IBF featherweight champion Josh Warrington. In the ninth round, Lara knocked his opponent down with a left hook and the fight was immediately called off by the referee, handing Warrington his first career loss breaking Warrington's 30-0 unbeaten streak. His current professional record stands at 26-2-1 with 19 KO's.

Lara is like a little Edwin “Inca” Valero, he fights like there’s no tomorrow, and is in your face constantly without backing down. He just needs to improve his punch rate since he does tend to be square up a little bit from time to time, but the power, killer instinct, and underrated ring IQ are something undeniable in him. This guy for those who don’t know was the main sparring partner for 130lbs champ Emanuel Navarrete for many years, and even Navarrete warned Warrington to watch out for Lara when the fight back then. This guy is the boogeyman of the 126lbs division, and most definitely an undisputed champ of the 126lbs 🇲🇽😈🔥

Some boxers are "hit and don't get hit" and some, like Lara, are completely "with your shield or on it"-style warriors. Absolutely vicious, great fighter to watch! Edit: This has aged like fine milk after the second fight with Wood. Supposed to go out on your SHIELD not on the SCALES. Hope he bounces back mentally.

Easily the hardest puncher at 126 but he really needs to improve on his skillset. Wood was outboxing him with a simple 1-2 I don't know what possessed him to exchange hooks with Lara

He was trying to get him with a hook from a rh feint throughout the fight. Lara or his corner worked it out, which is why he got kod. A bizarre gameplan given the hook is Lara's best punch.

I really think he is the man of at 126 right now. It’s crazy that 3/4 for champions are Mexican. That Cuban kids that just became champion about a month ago has his work cut out if he wants to unify with any of the 3.

Think you put some sort of jinx on him with this, though it's a great vid. Will be interesting to see how he comes back from this. Was Wood really that good or was something up with Lara? But take nothing away from Wood as you can only beat what's in front of you.

A combination of both I think. Lara can still be a good fighter it was just an odd set of circumstances. If I were him I'd move up to 130 lbs.

I would love to know who the person was that advised Eddie Hearn that Lara was a good opponent for Warrington. Whoever it was, they have a v poor understanding of boxing. Either that or they set Warrington up. As always, a great video.

Ramirez is the more skilled of the 2 and the better all-round boxer but Lara is the bigger puncher and brings that relentless pressure. It'd be a great fight but I think I'd favor Ramirez at the moment by decision. Hope we see these unification fights happen soon!

Not really too sure where Lara goes next because he's looked less than impressive in his last 2 fights. I'd like to see him get a little momentum back before he goes in there with another top fighter again.
