India and Mauritius have virtually inaugurated an airstrip on Agalega Island. The airstrip was built by India. It will help Mauritius deal with maritime threats, and give India a friendly base to go to in case of emergencies. India also built a jetty and several other projects in Mauritius. During the inauguration, the leaders of both countries highlighted the historic ties they share. Palki Sharma tells you more.

as a indian. I would say you need to leave Maldives and visit Mauritius. Mauritius is a very good and well developed infrastructure country. Again upi will start in Mauritius very soon. Mauritian language is also a very familiar language to Indians. Because they speak Bhojpuri. We should visit Lakshadweep, Sri Lanka, and Mauritius.

Benevolent big brother. That's what India is to Mauritius. Equal partnership with respect. Mauritius needs various assistance and India needs its strategic location. Contrast this with the British who forcefully removed the people from Diego Garcia nearby to establish a top secret military base run by their masters the USA. Mauritius is indeed tiny with a multicultural population. The people of Mauritius live in harmony because 1-there is no native indigenous population who can make claims on the land 2-The population is educated and knows real history: namely the brutality and savagery of the French towards their black slaves and then that of the English towards the Indian indentured labourers. Western history is heavily distorted and sanitised and Western media is servile to their biased paymasters. The best thing people of the Global South can do is to learn about real History and not be bitter but be positively proactive for a better future. This is what modern India under Modi is doing. If you follow their local press, the issue is not at all hating India… it is all about the secrecy surrounding the India Mauritius deal / MoU. The press have pushed for more public awareness on the deal. Most if not the entire population of Mauritius loves India since always. Its difficult to capture this closeness between our people in simple words.

The white Mauritians generally does not care as long as their business self interests are preserved…overall this is a win win situation as Mauritians all benefit from the infrastructure like light rail funded by india and protection and maritime surveillance of their territorial waters that were always intruded upon by jaoanese russian chinese and other fishing nations… something that most Mauritians do not have a good understanding of… india benefits by having a look out post to manage china and the island people of agalega have better infrastructure and connectivity to the mainland in Mauritius for their emergencies and other needs..

A much smaller one would have done the job. So, a big waste of money. Not to mention the grey areas on what India will benefit from this investment. Nothing is for free. And we don't want to sell our lands to Indian foreigners!

Can african d'origins from Mauritius & arround the world, talked the language of their ancestors, their african language or they had all prefered to spit on their african culture to live as western domestics pets animals for life..... Many of them don't like Modi & India because the Indian peaple had not put chain in their feet and not used them as slaveries, like the british & the french did to them......!
