We never heard anything about her father. It could be a couple of things. Maybe the mother cheated or was even raped, a onetime thing with a white or light skinned guy and so she denied her instead. of admitting it. of course, recessive genes are weird sometimes. Maybe Meek just happened to inherit all the white genes her mother and father both had. the 50% you inherit from each parent is very random. the average Black American is 20% white. If she happened to randomly get that from both parents that would make her 40%. I know an interracial couple who had 3 kids. One you would swear was 100% Black, one looks mixed and the other could pass as white if she straightened her hair.

The daughter is commendable for not being bitter and for still loving her mother. She has suffered so much her entire life because of her own mother denying her. So sad really that all those years the mother could have shown her more love instead of rejection.

Whether you’re the biological parent or not, if you’re raising that child then it’s YOURS and you treat him/her as such. I had a step mother who was told she couldn’t have children and as soon as I was comfortable with her I realized that she really loved me as if I was her kid. Even after my sister, her biological child, came along it never switched up. I’m 23 and she still is a motherly figure in my life.

Exactly! My daughter is literally half me and half her dad in her looks. But she's got red hair coming in (she's 5 months). Neither of us have red hair. It's a recessive gene on my dad's side (like super super recessive... Haven't seen red hair in my family for YEARS) but her hair is definitely coming in red! That's not to say it won't change but her eyebrows are red so it's unlikely that it will change now!
