How can a song and movie franchise get any better than this.

I was an emotional wreck after watching Top Gun Maverick this year. My father passed away in April, I came home to find him already gone. Nothing I could do to save him. He enjoyed Top Gun, and for reasons you can assume I was pretty emotional through the whole movie. Love the culture of these films and the true meaning of American pride and love on display behind the screen too. Great effort and work went into these films and i'm glad I was alive to see them both. Miss you pops, wish you were here.

I joined the USN a year before this movie came out. Top Gun was OUR movie. Me and my shipmates watched it every night on the mess deck before lights out at 2200... We enjoyed popcorn and ice cream too. We are all brothers to this day, every year at our reunions, but sadly there are fewer of us now 35 yrs later. Hand salute to my USN brothers. 🙏🏼🙏🏼💝😪🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

Maverick and Top Gun always made me proud to be an American and proud of the military. I could never serve because I am blind as a bat. My uncle was a helicopter pilot that was killed in an accident in Germany. I also have two nephews who served. I hope a lot of things change in the next two years because those in power now are only helping our enemies, not us.

This was a fitting tribute. Terry Nunn and Berlin. Mixing in with the old and the new.

I still remember the day the first Top Gun Maverick trailer dropped. Thursday, July 18th, 2018. I was in a pub in Portland, randomly wearing a t-shirt with Maverick's Kawasaki Ninja on it. I was ecstatic! Then came the delay. Then another. And another. And another. I jokingly said I would die before this movie came out. Then on June 22nd, 2021, I was hit and nearly killed by a DUI driver who ran a red light while I crossed the street. Recovery has been difficult, but I made it. When the movie debuted I was there, opening night, wearing my aviators and leather Maverick bomber jacket cosplay. I basically cried tears of happiness throughout the whole movie. I've now seen the movie 5 times in theaters and countless more at home. Thanks for making this amazing tribute.

Am not ashamed to admit it, this bought tears to the eye. So very well done and captured the spirit of everything that is and always will be Top Gun. This movie and its soundtrack I'm sure mean different things to many people besides just a movie/movies. I'm no exception, so every time I watch the movie or hear a song from the soundtrack, the memories as to why it's significant to me hurt and always bring me to tears.

If you're of a certain age - and you remember the original Top Gun from your youth fondly, and enjoyed Top Gun Maverick recently - something about seeing the two edited together - as if the 30 years between them never happened - is just really goosebump inducing. It's not really about the film even is it? It's about how watching 1986 and 2023 spliced together like this makes you reflect on the passing of time, what changes...and what doesn't. And if it hits you that way - I bet your eyes won't stay dry watching this. Magical edit. Well done.

Can’t explain how much the original Top Gun impacted my life… but I’ll try. I grew up in San Diego (son to a Navy Seal) and although I wasn’t a Navy pilot, I was also in Navy Spec Ops as my father was. My girlfriend at the time was blond and blue eyed, like Kelly McGillis, and we use to eat at Kansas City BBQ all the time (where the piano scene was filmed). I lived in a little apt on the beach in I.B and had allot of the same life moments as Maverick. People always said I looked just like Cruise and I even sung, you’ve lost that loving feeling in bootcamp with my classmates… weird how art can imitate life. It always breaks my heart to watch Top Gun and remember those days, and how they’re now gone forever (as is that girl). Getting old sucks.

Look at the comments here, so many people have an emotional connection with these two movies. Last year I watched TGM so many times from May to December. It really is one of the best movies I've seen. I will always remember 2022 as the year of Top Gun Maverick 🙂 Plus this video highlights how I feel about both movies. True classics.
