How to get great, cinematic video and beautiful pictures on your Mavic Mini. I show you how to get proper exposure and make sure your video is not too dark or bright, and how to use AE Aperture Exposure Lock, the EV Exposure Value, the exposure histogram and using polarizer ND filters from Freewell. I go through all the adjustments you can make to the Mavic Mini camera, gimbal and app to make sure your video is cinematic, smooth and perfectly exposed.

I’ve been playing with ND filters for a few weeks, if you enable Subtitles in the App you can view ISO and shutter speed. Fortunately the Mini tends to hold ISO 100 when filters are fitted, on a sunny winters day in the UK I’m using a ND16 and getting 50 - 60 shutter speeds when flying away from the sun.

Some people do try and stick to the 180 rule of doubling the frame rate, so aiming for a 1/50 shutter speed. TBH I usually stick to have an ND16 on most of the time unless it's dusk, when I take it off, or midday sun in summer in the USA, then a 32. Otherwise the 16 is a good all rounder.....

Another good tip for smooth flying, is flying without the sticks screwed in the remote control, then it's more like two track balls you fly with ⚡👍 Gives much more control of the aircraft, and smoother footage 🛸
@IaninLondon
@IaninLondon 4 жыл бұрын
Now I would have thought that woudl have made things worse; as a common method is to use extra long sticks, so a small thumb movement results in an even smaller actual stick movment; using just the track ball, you'd have no leverage and it would end up being rougher.... Maybe I'll try that out. That a Maltese Cross as your logo?

@@scooby7346 Look at 2:51 on the video; there is a small arrow on a semi-circle; that's the orientation (direction) of the drone; ie which way it's pointing. The small white dot with a torch beam indicates where the drone is relative to your orientation. So, if the drone turns (as it does at 2:51) you see the little arrow move. Is it best to shoot in 4-3 or 16-9 someone said it does not use all the camera sensor in 16-9 .Is there any hard fast rule ?
@IaninLondon
@IaninLondon 3 жыл бұрын
16:9 is a simple crop of the top and bottom of the picture and so yes, it's not using all the sensor. But if your phone, PC screen and TV are all 16:9, then I think it's easier to shoot in the format you want to view.... I do all mine in 16:9

If everything is auto how do you know when you have the right ND filter selected?
@IaninLondon
@IaninLondon 4 жыл бұрын
There's a sub title setting where you can view technical data on the video shot. But TBH, an ND 16 is perfect for everyday use...

Would an ND type filter work? Or would it be worse with Auto settings?

I just don’t understand why with a drone this small and under 250g DJI would incorporate No Fly Zone Geo fencing?
@IaninLondon
@IaninLondon 4 жыл бұрын
Because sadly it's still subject to all the No Fly rules and regs..... :(
