Personally, I land right then in a safe spot where you can come and get it. Instead of returning home and putting your drone at risk. I have a Mavic Air and that is my Emergency protocol. I don't fly over body of waters unless I have put in a fresh battery and have launched it from the edge of the body of water. Think like a pilot which you are and battery power is your fuel reserve.

Mistake 1, 1 mile away with 40% battery, mistake 2, coming home against the wind, mistake 3, 60m high wind probably double up there, you only realised to lower it when you only had 446m to go, mistake 4, stopping and starting during flight, wasted valuable time and loss of speed, mistake 5, well, we know what that is, damn trees, they get every where.... Sports mode, it would have taken you 1:30 to get back if there was no wind, yet you started off already with 12knts prob gusts of 20-25knts, that there doubles your rth time to about 3:00, but thats 10m wind speeds, so, for 60m speeds then you are probably looking at about 25-35knots, had you lowered your mavic to around 10m and left it in sports mode, cancelled rth (without stopping to look at the screen), you could have made it home, thats just my view of it, any thoughts folks?

You could have descended on the way, so she could suffer less wind, and fly faster...

Hindsight: Your late descent to 25m looked like it was very effective in reducing headwind. I bet if you'd done this earlier, you would've made it. You were in a situation where you could do this and still maintain LOS and obstruction clearance.

You didn’t X out of Rth and fly it on in you had enough battery it warned you that obstacle avoidance was off, altitude to high on return wind is faster speed up there, with all the warnings going out constantly I’m coming home at 50% battery or maybe even 60%

Next time dont take off in so much wind thats just dumb id have settled for a 500 meter away landing and had time on the walk to get my drone to call myself an idiot. your drone is a camera platform use it like one if you want obscene range then change aircraft drones are not it you want chainlink fpv for 10km and you wont get that in a drone not loaded with batts the sheer weight of batts for a 10 k out 10 k back would prob stop it taking off even matrice 600s yes i know they can lift a lot but not that much

Your fault! Too windy and you have not to fly when you have a strong wind advise! You might get down in the first free place and do not insist so stupidly!
