I think for Alonso it’s kinda an ambivalent feeling. He’s happy having qualified so well but he’s sad that he knows he can’t fight for the ein with the car he has.

I don't he's "sad," he was just being realistic. He knew there were faster cars starting behind him and he would ultimately get passed. Quite frankly, once the race started, I was surprised in stayed in 2nd place for as long as he did.

@@LINK-is3oc I think the smarter drivers, the more senior they get, the more they realize what load of bull*hit the media is and how politics moves in F1. Fernando, Vettel and Kimi in the recent senior club realized that. Max has realized it among the new generation and is pretty measured in his interviews.

@@Michael-fi7vu a front row at 40 years old in a midfielder car isn't something ordinary in modern F1. Took even michael schumacher his 3rd season in mercedes to actually set pole at monaco after his comeback in his 40s, albeit he also made it to the front row in china. Given how most good drivers lose performance by 34-35 and leave the sport or retire or are dropped, this is a testament to the fact that fernando achieved something special.

I love how despite how much Max jokes around, how he sorta keeps it real with how good Fernando is to this day, ESPECIALLY with his starts. I mean you can say a lot of things about a lot of drivers but some just have these special niche things they excel in and race starts are 100% Fernando's thing

@@OceanIgs Try and listen to the radio of other drivers, and let me know if there’s a meaningful difference between their reactions to when things didn’t work out on the track. F1 is such an extreme and high intensity sports. It’s completely understandable, even to be expected, that drivers will not stay calm throughout the race. What’s more relevant is from the way he spoke and how he understood and analysed what had happened, Max has clearly become a much more mature, respectable, and even dignified driver. He deserves more respect than many people are willing to give him

Don’t wanna jynx anything, but taking into consideration that both Leclerc and Pérez start further back, i don’t think Max will defend to harsh into turn 1, cause this is the race that he can really create a nice gap in the championship. Also i think the RB is faster on racepace than the alpine an he is just gonna go for a safe drs overtake later in the race, but you never know!

Agree, if he has a bad start he will not take the risk to be taken out of the race. He has a much better pace then Alpine so he will pass Alonso anyway. Also Alonso is smart enough to not make the fight to hard because he knows he will not have a chance against a RB.

Fernando is 40yo and he is constantly being called old, while Lewis is only 3 years younger and he's fighting for championships. If Fernando was driving a Red Bull, we would call him "experienced" but now people call him old.
