The mark of a true pro. Making something so difficult looks so easy.

What mechanics Scherzer has. Very clear to see why he is such a dominant pitcher

Damn this guy is good. So good that it’s hard to believe players still get hits off of him

micah bettis Yes, he is. He’s tacked on a few Cy Young Awards since this video was taken as well. I’d love to get a current video of what he’s working with these days.

Mike Carp batting 5th playing first base -- I had to look that up (watched him play, but do not remember a single thing he ever did). In fact, 2/3rds of the names in the Sox starting line up make me wonder how these guys ever won a WS. Which goes to show how *teams* win championships -- not just a handful of great players.

You're exactly right the funny thing is I was a huge Red Sox playing at the time and thought there was absolutely no way that they would win that you especially compared to years like2011 where they had so much more talent

+Yellow Brick Road it's just a thing of habit that he does in his bullpens with the coach and catchers. It's funny seeing Max so relaxed in his pen session but turns into a savage on the mound
@michaeljeferson91188 жыл бұрын
Late response but doing it helps reinforce good habits by attaching a emotion to a pitch he likes, when he misses a spot or throws a bad pitch he doesn't do the motion
@petetagle257 жыл бұрын
Michaeljeferson it marks the pitch he's throwing next, hand up is slider, 2 fingers is changup, fistpump is curveball, and nothing is fastball

Peter Tagle not quite. The coming pitch is the what he does with his glove. Other people in this thread got it right.

T H YOON something called myelin. myelin trains your brain that whatever you just did and celebrated for is the thing you want to happen all the time. when he is in the game pitching and throws a pitch he likes, in his brain he is doing the celebration because your brain cannot decifer wether youre celebrating in your mind or in real life. If you are a pitcher, i highly reccomend you start celebrating after you throw a good pitch or do a good rep in a drill. it pays off. when you do it bad, dont celebrate and move on to the next one. simple as that.

It looks to me that he is thinking about what he wants his hand to do on each pitch... On his curve he his mimicking yanking down on the seam. Just my take on it. Made me chuckle tho
@The7thMastermind10 жыл бұрын
@thomasroxburgh it may just b e something as simple as fixing his jersey
In order: Slider Curveball then from the stretch: 4 seam Cutter Slider Changeup back to the full: Fastball
@DozaSlayer7 жыл бұрын
In his pens, he'll raise his hand for a slider, pump his fist for a curve, show two fingers for a change, and no motion for a fastball. This is after his pitch, of course

@captaino16 Жыл бұрын
@@chrisk6811 I just noticed this as well, I think maybe he finished his warm-ups too early for his liking. He seems to be the kind of guy who has to have a specific routine followed exactly. That's just my opinion, based on what I've heard about how he is on game day
