To be fair, most of her points are about Mumbai itself, and not about India. I know she can't speak for entire India, not even Indians can, but I just want to remind you that India is not only about Delhi or Mumbai. I am from North-East India and here pollution, slum, traffic are almost non-existant. Weather is pleasant, people can speak more English, women are safe here etc. India is just too diverse.

What strikes me most is that she speaks about India and Indians as “We”… she has adopted the culture here…and the country has adopted her.. 😊

As an Indian living in Europe from last 7 years i can totally say that Europeans are not friendly at all. Sometimes you can feel lonely but being foreigner in India you can be treated as celebrity. Europe has everything but it's difficult to find a good social life. I am honestly saying i m here to make money but i miss India every single day. We may have lot of problems but there is no country better than India ❤

I’m Singaporean and stayed in Mumbai for a year. It is safe, people are really fun and cool. And there’s lots of money to make :-) but it’s better to raise a family in Singapore.

As an Indian who has travelled and lived in different parts of the country, I can say , she is the first foreigner I came across who completely gets it. The nuances, the variation, the layers everything, the good, the bad...the biggest thing about India is, you can't generalize ANYTHING, even the most stereotypical and recognizable and widespread thing may be completely unrecognizable or unfamiliar somewhere else. While most of what she said is true in Mumbai and a large part of India, some things may not be. For example, that stereotypical headbobbing is completely unfamiliar in the parts where I belong(East and North East), we used to have the same trouble just as the foreigners do when we first visited the southern part of the country.

Patricia is amazing. She has understood the soul of Indians and India is also lucky and enriched having people like her living and working here. If she wants green spaces, she needs to travel 80-100 kms away from mumbai city, you can find quiet localities in mumbai as well.

India is no Japan or South Korea. DO NOT leave your phone or anything expensive outside unless you wanna lose it. Saying this as a born and raised Indian currently living in Europe. Also, she is right. India is amazing at services. I find India to be more convenient than Switzerland, the country I'm currently in due to my partner. Switzerland is physically beautiful (stunning landscape & tip top cleanliness) but Indians are unbeaten when it comes to how friendly, accepting and kind the locals are (generally speaking) and also procuring services as a customer is WAY WAY WAY MORE convenient in India. They have apps for every type of service including medicines and groceries that get delivered either on the same day or next day and basically everything. I'm always amazed at how efficient India is in terms of services whenever I return. I don't have to wait 2 weeks to see a specialist. In India, I can see a specialist on the same day if I want to . As much as I enjoy Switzerland and the affordability and convenience of being able to travel to neighboring european countries, I have actually been considering returning back to India. My swiss partner loves India too and is totally onboard with the idea of living in India. I've travelled to many countries but no one is friendlier than us Indians. My partner says the same thing. He says the people is what makes India amazing.

I am an Indian. And when I visited Ukraine, I visited this beautiful little town called Kolommiya, and some people there wanted to take pictures with us (me and my Taiwanese friend) same happened in Kosiv. So, humans are curious basically.

What I admire the most about this video is the level of understanding about India. She has gone beyond the things that are wrong in our society to appreciate what is good. That's what helps you appreciate cities. Also, on the subject of Paris vs Mumbai, I was robbed of my luggage in Paris airport ... but that never happens inside an airport in India. In general, I felt more safe in Mumbai than whenever I visited Paris.

What an incredible human being she is! So much depth & nuance in her understanding of India as she experiences it. Ofcourse some things are city related - Mumbai is exceptionally safe for women, this may not be true in some other cities. Mumbai is also exceptionally crowded & the landscape changes every few seconds from modern high rises to slums. Other cities are often not that extreme. But Mumbai is a wonderful experience for Indians & foreigners alike. Its hard not to love India after you have experinced life in Mumbai.

This is true. The convenience and efficient services we can have which is just few taps away on the phone in today's India is awesome. Thanks for uploading this video. My views would be similar to her's, the only exception would be, do not leave your phones unless you have a close friend or family guarding your phone. Even though cities are generally safe in India, it is still wiser to stay vigilant and reasonably guarded.

The pollution after Diwali is actually not due to fireworks, Firework pollution stays there for maximum of 2 days, after that it's all due to burning of paddy fields. She might not know this because media only focuses on blaming the 1 day of joyous festival. Fireworks are not unique to India but only Diwali gets the blame and the actual reasons are ignored.

I have a European friend who often pushes the idea that people should just accept that it is a ‘body’ but it is pretty disrespectful and culturally blind to not realise you are in a different place and should adapt to their customs as needed. What an amazing woman, the use of the word "we", the optimism, the sense of comfort in her own skin, the compassion...she would be happy and will create happiness in any country or culture that's lucky to have her.

Mumbai and Pune are the safest cities. Very cosmopolitan and Maharashtrians are very accepting of migrants from different states or countries. You respect the language Marathi and culture and you will be treated with utmost respect. You get everything what you would in any major city in the world. May you have a safe, happy and healthy life here in India.

As an Indian who recently came back from Russia, I would say that India is much more lively and beautiful place compared to any Russian city or village. Although Russians will become as kind of warm like indians after few drinks. But thanks for making this video. I am mumbaikar now living in Singapore. The reason to choose Singapore is safety. There are more things also. I can totally relate with her view, she was completely honest when she said she might not go back to france. That is charm of mumbai. The people and small little convenience you get at fraction of price elsewhere.

India is a massively diverse country. Plenty diversity of languages, cultures, clothes and foods. The only thing that unites us the love for our nation. Westerners portray it negatively as Indians being ultra nationalistic, but that is the ONLY thing that unites us. We all love our motherland and it is our birth right to do so.

She showed the positives and negatives of living in Mumbai and she’s gorgeous. I wish people would be more conscious of throwing litter on the beach or on the streets. If they love India or Mumbai, stop littering on it.

Soon the airport that you are currently landing in Mumbai on will be exclusively for domestic flights. International travel will happen from the new airport coming up in Navi Mumbai. Mumbai is under construction. there are lots of new construction happening. 350 km worth of new metro is being built. With underground stations, underground road tunnels. I ask my foreign friends to not give up on India just yet. We are still in an infancy phase or I should rather say we are just getting started. There are also new greenfield cities coming up all across the country. If you have visited Mumbai and other Indian cities now (where a lot of these projects and constructions are happening) please also come to visit the Mumbai of 2030 when all these projects would be complete. Also the slums that you see in Mumbai would be gone.

I am a Mumbaikar staying in Germany since past 1 year and I was so able to relate to her comment that in Mumbai you feel tired even when you do very little work because your senses are engaged actively all the time due to the noise pollution , air pollution and what not . I can totally relate to it after having lived in both the worlds now.

I live in Budapestfew months every year, and will be spending increasing more time here . I find Hungarians very friendly. All one has to do is take initiative in smiling first. It has always been the case that whether I asked for the route, or any other advice they are really supportive. Further I have made many friends including neighbors who don't speak English . Unlike what is believed Europeans are very family oriented. I think the problem with some of us is that we are too sensitive (easy to take hurt) and do not take initiative. if you do that Europeans are very friendly - especially because they have no agenda. It is also very very safe

India is like ASEAN, with a little bit of Egypt, bit of Morocco, bits of Caucasus region, bits of Tibet and bits of Yunnan. However, there is a section of tough backpackers and Bohemian mavericks who visit India and they do the following: 1) Stay in cheap hotels costing US$ 5 to US$ 15 2) Roam around in slums and street markets 3) Eat only street food They say that like this you will see the real India and then some of them end up falling sick or disliking India and saying that India sucks. India also has a ski resort called Gulmarg and Asia's largest tulip garden. Produces tropical fruits like Mango and Banana and temperate fruits like Pears and Apples. However tough backpackers are not interested in these aspects of India.

Just recently found and subscribed to Max’s channel. Amazing content on India. I am an American and have been bullish on India since 2008. Definitely think that India is on a massive growth trajectory.

Just want to point Mumbai is not entire india there are many cities many places and many beautiful villages you can stay in,just have to adapt to the culture and don’t be arrogant to not follow the culture of the place,there is Goa where you can wear a bikini and there are places where people will stare at you for wearing one.

I now working in Poland and i can confidently say, India is not for the weak, you have to be mentally strong, when i came to here in Warsaw, i felt like ''this life is too easy here that i may flown away if wind hits'' in India, all of your senses are at peak like all the time, here, i even notice a small movement of leaves because my mind is built like that, i don't know how to explain all but i can say, if India was a game, you need the experience of a battle hardened veteran.

Growing up in India was like being part of a big, friendly family. I never felt lonely because there were always people around to share life's ups and downs. Then, I moved to Europe, which offered a better lifestyle and clean surroundings. But I started to miss the warm, close-knit community of India. In Europe, it's more isolated, and I sometimes feel lonely. So, while Europe has its advantages, I still long for the emotional connections and friendliness of India. It's a bit like balancing between two worlds, and I miss the one I grew up in.

As a Mumbaikar I can appreciate how much and how well she knows her Mumbai. Also as a side note, India is 3rd in Purchasing Power Parity (GDP PPP) in the world, which means Indians on average have the third highest purchasing power of goods and services i.e. it's cheap to live in India. I've studied in Prague, worked in Poland, been to 15 countries in Europe and probably will go back to Prague soon, but Mumbai is in my heart. Saying hello from Versova 👋🏽🇮🇳

This is a great interview. And I guess she spoke about Mumbai and not India. Mumbai is probably a country within a country and it's only a city. Multiply that with the number of states in India and you have one complex organism.
