Technically because Max Married a Jacobite who’s a descendent of James the second, a line that was made illegitimate due to the glorious revolution, he shouldn’t be able to do this. HOWEVER he’s found a loophole: they got married at a Protestant church. Because the line was removed from succession due to The Jacobites being Catholic, Max forcing his partner to be married as a Protestant is restoring the legitimacy of the line! Therefore not only is Max now a royal by technicality, his partner might actually become a real royal!

My ancestor Juan Dillon was married off to prince charles of Luxembourg somewhere in the 30s or so, the current grand Duke of Luxembourg ( my distant relative) who is cousin to the now dead Queen Elizabeth the second of England. So which makes me " distantly" related to the British Royal family. So which means that we were distantly related to each other for 43 minutes

as someone who has been engaged and looked into the weird and wonderfully complicated marriage laws in england - there's no way this was a legal marriage. It takes weeks to arrange the wedding license, both people need to meet the registrar first, it needs to be indoors (under a permanent structure at least like a hefty gazebo as the structure itself is what is licensed, not grounds around it) and a registrar can't carry out a wedding at a religious building, only a priest can.

Tbh, I don't think the marriage was valid in the first place. You both have to 'give notice' 29 days before you get married (I think so any objections could be raised)

@@julian5956 Yeah, objections in the UK have to be notified directly to the church anywhere in a month before the wedding, due to the fact that years ago records weren't that good and people could sneak off and marry again. Objections in the UK simply mean are they already married.

I have looked at Oliver Cromwell's family tree in the past and have read about his descendants and, to a lesser extent, other relatives. Did you know that the Duchess of Kent is descended from Oliver Cromwell? I know that Oliver Cromwell was a great-great-grandnephew of Thomas Cromwell, chief minister to King Henry VIII, although the connection goes through Thomas Cromwell's sister, Katherine, who married a Williams, so there had to be a change in surname to get back to Cromwell again. The _EastEnders_ actor Danny Dyer was revealed to be a descendant of Thomas Cromwell on the genealogy programme _Who Do You Think You Are?_ That was quite a surprise. I was unaware that there were any relatives now living that still had the surname Cromwell.
