Today (Saturday December 23, 2023) it is exactly one year ago that Faithless vocalist Maxi Jazz sadly passed away at the age of 65. Maxi Jazz was the stage name of Maxwell Fraser, a British musician, rapper, singer, songwriter and DJ who was mostly known as the lead vocalist of Faithless. With Faithless Maxi Jazz released tracks such as "Insomnia", "Salva Mae (Save Me)", "Take The Long Way Home", "We Come 1" and of course "God Is A DJ".
On August 11, 2018 I had the chance to do an interview with Maxi Jazz about "God Is A DJ". The interview was recorded 5 minutes away from my house, at Hotel Nobis in Asten (The Netherlands). Maxi was staying there because he had a gig at the "Nirwana Tuinfestival" in Lierop later that day. Im forever grateful that he replied to my interview request. At that time I had not even 1000 subscribers and less than 10 interviews on my channel. He could have easily ignored my email or said "no", so as you can imagine I was super happy to see his "let's do this!" reply in my email.
Not gonna lie, I was very nervous, but he was such a nice and down to earth guy, very friendly and even though he was a bit in a rush he still took the time for a few pictures and to sign some of my records and CDs. The interview with Maxi has almost 175.000 views and right now it is the video with the most amount of views on my channel.
The footage in this video is some raw material that my sister did record just before we started the interview. I wanted to post it today, one year after Maxi's passing, as a little reminder / tribute to him, plus I wanted to share some words, so people can read what a nice and awesome person he was. He will never be forgotten.....
