Titanium french press is a better buy for backpacking. This thing is for car glampining. Too many one purpose parts, too bulky, too many failure points for the field. This is honestly one of the worst backpacking coffee solutions I've seen in decades... and there have been plenty. You did the right thing with the french press!!

I wish there would be a real titanium perculator. For 300 till 700 ml. So you can also use the kettle for just boiling water. Does it come with extra spare seal rings ?

My normal consumption of coffee is around 28oz. Then maybe another 16oz in the afternoon... I dont have a problem. I need one that is 2x the size of the max model and one with a pour spout lol.

I dont have an aero press (yet) but it tastes like home brewed coffee. I would assume that it will be similar since both methods use hot water and pressure to extract coffee. Thanks for watching and appreciate the support! Cheers!

I don't see a safety blowoff valve, and have seen multiple reviews of this unit exploding. if it had a safety valve i'd be inclined to get it for camping. I understand the idea of having an always open hole into the funnel, though as far as I can tell that still relies on the water/steam being able to force its way through the coffee. I'd love to have a super lightweight moka for backpacking but if that thing blew up in my face I'd feel dumb for life for having trusted it.

The pressure release hole works well with this system. You will have to ensure to manage and control the heat or you will have over pressure. Just don't leave it unattened and it will not blow up. Cheers!

I’m just curious as to why these days they’re called “moka pot” when for ions of years they were always called espresso pots? Maybe this particular one is a new invention but the first ones shown were used before electric espresso machines and were always called espresso pots. 🤷‍♀️. Just pure curiosity.

So, I got scolded for stating that Moka pots can make espresso coffee. Coffee purists explained to me that espresso can only be made using a specific high pressure process. I believe that’s what caused things to change over time. You will also notice that most advertised Moka pots use the term “espresso like coffee” meaning, is not espresso but it sure is close to it, lol. If I’m wrong please correct me, cheers!

@@offcourseoutdoors8366 I wasn’t scolding, I apologize if it sounded like I was. I was just curious because these days companies seem to just change names to make things sound fancy purely for advertising purposes, an excuse to hike up the prices. A good example is the famous insta pot that is nothing more than an electric pressure cooker that was invented before they came up with the name, probably for people that don’t have a clue about pressure cooking since I remember my mother using stove top ones. I can give plenty of other examples. In any case thanks for satisfying my curiosity, I was only wondering.

The worst idea. The holes in the powder basket are a source of leaking hot vapor into the coffee powder, making it very bitter. This design actually worsen the moca pot weak spot !!! The sputtering water is a sign of bitter coffee

Too many fiddly bits that only have one purpose. There are much better and lighter options for coffee brewing when backpacking. The big one is too large for backpacking, so the utility of having it made of titanium is lost... If weight is not an issue, it should be stainless. I have a titanium french press that makes 16 ounces, is less complex, takes up less space, and weighs far less. If someone whipped this out while I was on a backpacking trip with them... I would never let them live it down LOL!!! Jesus bro... BTW, I love Firebox stoves! Edit: "replacement seals"... oh boy! A consumable product that I need to keep buying to make this thing work!!!? No sale.

@@offcourseoutdoors8366 Absolutely true! I noticed you were using an alcohol stove, but I couldn't tell what kind. Do you have any input on that? I've been through so many coffee systems in my time... This one does look good, but I think a stainless version for base camp (that might be a little cheaper) would really hit a sweet spot.

I like using the Trangia burner since I can control the flame but in this video I was using the Toaks Siphon Stove ( fireboxstove.com/product/titanium-siphon-alcohol-stove/ ). The only drawback to the Toaks is that its always on afterburner mode. Its really good at boiling stuff fast. I will keep an eye out for a SS setup, thanks again! Cheers.

This pot blows up! Very dangerous! I bought this exact same moka pot. On my 2nd time making coffee with it, the thing literally blew up in my face, leaving me and my wife burned pretty bad. I cannot recommend this to anyone for any reason. This moka pot is extremely dangerous!

I was actually considering backing the IndieGoGo campaign when I get my next paycheck, but they only ship to the US apparently :( And I can't inquire about that on the campaign page without first backing it, which since they don't appear able or willing to ship to Canada is kind of a non-starter :(
