Max Kilmans parents are from Ukrainian and russian heritage so the war between Russia and Ukraine affected him some way in the past. The then former coach of Ukraine national team the one and only Andrej Schevchenko tried to lure and convince Kilman to play for the ukrainian senior national team but FIFA blocked the move because Kilman has already played at Futsal level for England. He played 25 games for England at Futsal level from the age of 18.
