The way the story goes is that when Todd McFarlane was working for marvel he wanted the old spider man back, and he had to think what to do with the black suit so he came up with the idea of venom. The higher ups didn't like the idea of spider man losing the suit and going back to red/blue but somehow Todd convince them, it paid off as Venom is one of the best villains and anti hero's spider man has.

This game looks awesome! Cool music too and rad how they put the comic book panels in the game! "Chicks with braids, probably the worst, probably the most dangerous thing in the 90's." Comic book games sound great to me! I'd like to see some more. I also enjoy your early videos of comic book reviews.

This game was definitely made with SNES as the main version and Sega as the downgraded counterpart. The Sega version even displays in 256x224 mode (same as SNES) instead of using a bigger screen resolution to give it an advantage. There's not much difference though. Both are terrifically presented and faithful to the comic book. You didn't see much of that with licensed games in the early 90s but efforts and expectations were shifting by 1994. It's not one the greatest games on either console but it stands out for being a 16-bit pixel art masterpiece.
