Just a heads up peeps if you order the tool online it says lifetime warranty in your cart. If you buy in store it only comes with a 90 day limited warranty! So buy online if you can! Again the free lifetime warranty pops up only after you have added the item to your cart. I went and returned the one i had bought in store and bought it and had it shipped to my house online so it would have the lifetime warranty attached!

The guys at Harbor Freight have been bringing it lately. They are tapped into the market and clearly understand how to write the specs for the OEM.
@MustSeeInside

They made a big gamble on their business model like 10 years ago and it’s working beautifully. Their tool quality and reliability has improved almost across the board, they’re effectively managing their costs, and they’re relying on word of mouth for marketing. Some of their tools are better than anything in the big box stores, and at half the price. Eric Smidt is a legit genius.

Nice video. I bought a leatherman wave with a leather case that came with it back in 1994. It costs me a little over 40 bucks at Wal-Mart. I still have it. I use it just about every day at work. It has not broken or has any pieces missing or chipped. I am proud to have one that lasted me this long. Waves are hard to beat.

I have a lot of Leatherman multi-tools but I have to agree Leatherman needs to wake up....the thing is, people complaining about the prices of the Leatherman tools, keep in mind many of them and the components are made in Oregon in the US...VS other countries that you are buying from on the Clones, so certainly a Cloned version made in China is gonna be a lot cheaper than the same brand name multi-tool made in the US....However, Leatherman has kind of gotten behind in the terms on innovation and new stuff...they keep coming out with new colors of their tools...in reality who gives a damn, how about some new tools to get the interest of potential new customers or repeat customers rather than worrying about how many colors of a multi-tool you can make, that all scrapes off after a few uses anyhow.

I just bought a cordless Hercules compact impact wrench that boasts 500 ft lbs of nut loosening ability. I had a blade stuck on my rider deck that I couldn't get off. It had picked up a piece of wire and wrapped around the shaft which wedged against the nut. I had the front of the rider on a jack and only had 10 inches from floor to nut. Anyhow I got the tool for free by buying the charger and 5 a/h battery for $99.98, plus tax. Has better specs than dewalt stubby. Both brands are 6 inches from back to tip of anvil. I got some stubby impact sockets so I can get this thing in more places (they were $39.99 for metric). The tool has 3 speeds and auto and jolted the stuck nut off. The dewalt bare tool was $168 with a 2 day wait from Amazoid. HF is 8 miles from my home and had it all in stock so I could finish the job the same afternoon.

The files work well, no peeling on the diamond file yet, don't expect any either, I use that file daily. The scissors work well, no snag, nice smooth cut. The locking mechanism is good and strong, very positive lock, no slipping. For the price I'll be keeping a couple as back ups and in my camping gear. I was always a Leatherman fan. Have had ton's of models from the very first one and have never had to use the warranty once! That being said, the reason I have never had to use the warranty is that my biggest issue with multi-tools is loss or theft (mostly theft!). Therefore, the extended warrantees means didly squat. I buy the knockoffs now. Leatherman has gotten way too expensive even if the quality is a bit better. Heck, I prefer five cheap Chinesium 10mm wrenches in my toolbox, over one missing Snap-on now that respect for other people's property is so low.

I had a nearly identical experience about 4 hours ago here. Went to HF and looked on the knife/cutting aisle; not there, not even a tag out for it. Went up front and found a checker and the manager talking, so I asked them about the tool. The manager said "Oh yeah, we just got those in yesterday, they are still in the back, I'll go grab one for you." He went back to grab one and I explained about this tool and the patents to the checker. As the manager comes back out the checker asked him "How many we got back there? Can you set one aside for me so I can purchase it when I get off my shift?----You are 100% correct: The tolerance and quality I think exceeds my Leatherman in every category. Gotta keep an eye out for a bit-kit now.

That's an ideal survival multi-tool, and the magnet might be useful to magnetize a needle for a makeshift compass. An auger/awl would be great.

I have one of the original Letherman tools. It is an extremely dangerous tool. I have to say Gerber put them to shame with their first entry. Letherman, tools exit toward your grip, hand and fingers. Gerber, tools exit away from your grip to the inside of the grip. Don't know if that made any sense, but it sure is a whole lot safer to use.

Might have to pick one of these up. I typically lean towards light EDC. Have a Gerber arm bar that I love because of the full hex bit compatibility. I just don't use most of the tools on my full size multis

I got a Wave + for my wife a couple years ago. This Gordon and the Wave would be perfect if they added an awl. I have a Surge for my truck, and its got me out of a couple jams, especially with the bit kit, changing out a coil pack on the highway. I carry a Rebar for work. The large flat head broke, so I changed it out for Wave scissors. Almost perfect except for the fit/finish. I have a Victorinox Huntsman for hiking/ EDC.

I've been using and abusing a Wave for over 10 years, no issues, other than the blades are kind of soft and dull quickly. This looks like a good option to throw in the glove compartment in the car, or the toolbox on a boat.

I see this as a big potential for multitool modders. Reason being is, if you drop 120 on a wave, and then drop that much more on mods/custom tools for your wave; what benefit do you get from going with a genuine leatherman if you're just replacing everything on it? If people start making custom tools for this gordon multitool, you could probably work your way up to the cost of a stock wave, but end up with a customized tool that is exactly what you want, for much less total cost.

Wound up with my own side by side with the Multiforce. Went to Walmart for some things this morning and for once they had a Multiforce. So, while not really needing it, I bought it. This one was $3 more than the Gordon. They could easily shave that price with a far less ridiculous packaging. They pose a bit of a conundrum. Both seem to be very well built and have basically the same tool set except for the micro bit. Personally I like the reverse end orientation of the OT. I also like the dual belt position of the OT sheath. The OT is not as stiff out of the box as the Gordon. The OT blade is sharper but the Gordon file is far and away superior. Scissors seem to be in a dead heat. The pliers and wire cutters seem to be on a dead heat as well. I happen to prefer the combination serrated blade and strap hook opener of the Gordon. I prefer the more standard bit driver of the OT. I see you have a disassembly video up so I'll watch that. Right now I'd use the Multiforce body with its bit driver, switch the serrated blades and the files. But for now I have the Gordon in the horizontal belt position in the OT sheath. My Gerber Multiplier is in my ATV tool box and the Multiforce will be at home in my pickup tool box.

I have the new icon knife. I have been presently surprised. Especially since my edc is civvi or benchmade. It holds an edge well and sharpens well on ceramic sticks. It is smooth on the open and close. Time will tell though. As far as a multi tool i have carried the same wave for 15+ years. It has never let me down. I'll probably try it but im not sure if it will have a home on my belt.

Along with a memorial day coupon, I got it just for the 39 bucks and was very surprised how well it compared to my Leatherman's. Appreciate the review, I did not know the clip would come off that easily so now I am going to poke at it some more. :)

I was never a fan of the extremely pricy Leatherman bits, so I took a cheap locking bit driver and ground the sides down to a perfect fit in the bit holder, drilled a hole matching the gap in the holder and now can secure it with a pin and use any regular bit on the market in my Wave for around 7$ and one hour of elbow grease.

Thanks for the video and the review. I had one of the original hand pinching Leatherman tools 30-40 years ago or however long it's been. Never was impressed that much with it myself, and I'm sure not going to give a $100.00 plus for one of the newer versions. I still have a Leatherman Mini tool which they brought out after the original. It's ok for what it is and that's a gadget to help get you out of a bind when you don't have access to a proper tool to do whatever job you're needing to do. From what I understand, that's why Mr. Leatherman originally designed the original tool for, he'd got in a bind somewhere and didn't have whatever tools with him to do the repairs needed to get him going again. I'll probably eventually buy one of these to keep on hand since the price is reasonable for what it is. Thanks for the video

I was in Harbor Freight today looking for wrenches. Happened to notice this on the way out. It was in a weird place a long way from the place they usually have knives, etc. It was the last one they had in the store. Out of curiosity I bought it. Looks pretty nice. As the day progressed I had chances to use it several times. Not at all sorry I purchased it. I'm a little torqued at Leatherman s it seems like their idea of improving their tools is to give us a $300 Wave supertool. They had the patent for however long and could think of no way to improve it. They need to get innovative or they will get passed up pretty quick at this rate. What I'd really like to see is a side by side with the Ozark Trail Multiforce. I like the idea of the OT use of their bit driver.

I lost my Leatherman at the airline gate and purchased a Mossy Oak, for around $35, about a year ago. If the Harbor Freight knife had been available (or I had known about it), I probably would have purchased it. However, the blades of the Mossy Oak seem a better alloy than Leatherman; it is easy to keep razor sharp, whereas I never could quite achieve that sharpness in my Leatherman. I also appreciate that the various blades and tools of the Mossy Oak open up out of either back of the knife, so the knife remains closed in use, except when the pliers are used. The Mossy Oak bit holder seems to be virtually identical to the wave and overall, I use my multitool many times a day, especially the knife blade, and I am completely satisfied with the Mossy Oak.

I heard this was coming out so I went to Harbour Freight hoping they had bits, my precision screwdriver broke on my Wave and Leatherman's website was having problems and wouldn't let me make an order for a new one. They didn't (yet hopefully) so I just bought the tool. I carry the Wave daily and have done so for probably more than 10 years, my only gripe with it has been that the blade never felt as sharp as pretty much any other knife I own. The Gordon version feels sharper out of the box than the best sharpening I can do on the Wave. The difference in the steel is the reason and only time will tell if it holds up as good but I'm impressed.

Good to see. I broke a needle nose tip on my Wave and havent bothered to replace it cause they are now like a hundred bucks or more and the rest of the tool is basically brand new.. but since I mainly only use the needle nose, scissors and bits, i never carry it anymore.. but for 40$ I'll give this a shot! (a skeletool with scissors, some bits, and maybe a saw blade would be my perfect multitool)..
