I'd love a version with: Main blade, combo tool and scissors. Kind of like the victorinox compact, that would be an insta buy

I got the MKM Malga 6 in Magnacut with black Micarta scales in early November 2023 for $112 plus $8 shipping and no tax from GPKnives. The Micarta is more slippery and much less textured than I expected, which is mildly disappointing. I also opted for the leather pocket sheath with the magnetic flap and honestly, they make a classy carry combo. The lanyard attachment point on my Malga 6 is loose like yours. Overall, it’s a well-designed tool on par with the traditional SAK.

Got the Campo 7 with a philips, corkscrew, bottle and can openers as well as scissors and a fork. Good tool.

I got one with the fork, bottle opener and can opener. I like it. I haven’t cut much with the blade but it’s magnacut so it should be fine. I like it a lot so far as what I wanted was a premium SAK style knife.

I have the Malga 6 and I actually used the corkscrew yesterday for a bottle of wine. It was handy to have and I wasn’t expecting to need it. I want to buy the Malga 5 and swap out some of the tools between them

I was planning on getting one of those just to make a donor out of the blade for a custom sak

Very nice 👍 I prefer pull cut saws because they unclog on the push stroke and overall seem to cut more efficiently. Agreed though that it needs some kind of flat head screwdriver.

I have really been wanting to try out the MKM multitools. They really appeal to me. I like MKM designs in general. Thanks for the review Dom. You will have to let me know your thoughts after using it for a while.

The MKM multi tools would be compelling if they would come closer to just ripping off a SAK but with micarta scales and better blade steel. Premium blade steel is great, but the knife is my third or fourth most frequently used tool. The flathead driver on the bottle opener is one of the most used tools on any SAK that I have. All of the MKM variants get this wrong or don't even have it.

I really love the idea of this, and I definitely think this is a really good competitor to a Victorinox. I would love to have one of these but unfortunately with its current tool combination is really not one for me. If MKM made one for more urban EDC without the saw and added the opening layers It could very well replace my Pioneer X.

The campo 8 is a knifecenter exclusive that adds an opener layer. Not in magnacut yet as far as i know. Also, i believe only the scales are removable but the knife is still rivoted like a Victorinox

To answer your question Yes I would carry that. Those screws will only let you change the scales. They will not let you disassemble the tool. Unfortunately. Love your videos please keep up the great work.

no honestly i LOVE that the small blade is serrated, i always thought having just another straight blade was a bit of a wasted opportunity on victorinox knives i've had many times where i've need serrations

I think it is a great idea to have the small blade not be redundant of the large blade. On my bolster i have a serrated small blade i do use from time to time. If it were just a straight blade it would not be worth having on such a small knife.

I kinda love it...buuuut...missing the plus scales tools that the SAK has and missing the bottle openen/flathead and the can opener (wich i use to lift up my waterbottle with from the fire when on an outdoor trip)...is kinda a missbuy for me if i bought it....i think imma stick with my trusty huntsman, but still loving the magnacut pocketknife tho! Its fantastic looking also with the micarta scales

I got the Campo 7 and it is a little bit disappointing. The blade and scissors are great, but the rest of the tools are not great compared to a SAK. I can’t even open the bottle opener/flathead with destroying my fingernails (I tried 2 models), because the combination of the nailnick and required force doesn’t work.

When you were saying 'premium' I was expecting more than they're asking. It'll likely sell fairly well with those who want a gucci SAK. Don't know how big that market is, though.

I would love to see this compared to the American Service Knife.

Wonder if you could take something like a Climber or a Super Tinker, and replace the saw and scissors with a Victorinox scissor and the opener layer. Or if you could with some modding put that blade in a Victorinox. Since it's screwed shut, it should have some interesting modding potential.

Its kinda pretty but practicality is my priority and it took me a long time to find *my* perfect edc tool, so I'll stick to my sak Cybertool L.

Not knocking the tool for build quality because it looks really nice. For me, it seems like the selection of tools they included however, can almost be interchangeable in many uses. Two knives (it has bugged me forever that victorinox doesn’t replace the pen blade on a few more models), scissors and a saw (all cutting implements). I guess depending on what your uses are, that could be ideal to some people. For me, i’m not sure I would buy this because I generally like to have a bottle opener/slot, can opener, file (if possible), and corkscrew (I have found the corkscrew to be my go to tool for undoing difficult knots), and generally a separate plier based multitool. I suppose, you could pair a plier based multitool that could fulfill most of those functions. I generally like to carry a victorinox along with a plier based multitool just since I know the tools on victorinox are so reliable. I feel like the highlight of this tool for me would be the magnacut blade so I could probably more easily swap whatever dedicated knife I carry with a magnacut blade on my main carry knife. If your not the type to carry a full dedicated knife in addition to other tools, I could see this tool being highly desirable to people like that.

I really like the idea of the second smaller knife blade being serrated. I dislike combo edges, but the functionality being split like this is interesting. Though I do wish it had a pocket clip cause I am a sucker for pocket clips. I imagine that if they made other scales one may be clip compatible, or a 3rd party clip one.

I got the knife center exclusive version and when I tried to mess with it to get rid of that stupid serrated blade, it was actually pinned on the inside and I couldn't do any work on it, athough I could remove the scales. Unfortunately, removing the screws unstabilized the whole thing and I ended up bending the liners and it's currently essentially unusable. But anyway, I make this comment only because it was a pinned on the inside even though it looked like it was fine to disassemble on the outside.

I said Victorinox should've made the small blade serrated years ago; thankfully _someone_ listened. I find it redundant to make both straight blades. You want serrated to cut through rope and other items easier, while leaving the straight blade for finer tasks. Wish Victorinox would listen... 😋 In the toothpick slot they (Victorinox) should put a diamond blade sharpener.

I think the Medford ASK is also magnacut.

I've been debating whether or not I have room for a full-size SA style knife, and this is some very interesting food for thought. I REALLY like the tools in the Campo 8, and especially that it comes in red, but the serrated small blade is a total dealbreaker for me. at the $150 price point, I expect to have it for the rest of my life with proper care, and the fact that one of the tools is guaranteed to wear out at some point and I'll be unable to service it would make me want to throw it away every time I look at it.

For the price not worth it, missing the flathead and can opener. I carry the SAK hiker it does the job. Never had any use for scissors.

I would appreciate you reviewing the small serrated blade because the few reviews I have seen said the serrations really suck they are not done properly and you end up with a useless blade ? I would be very disappointed if this is the case. Thank you for your time.

Seems like an expensive downgrade. The SAK climber is also a 3 layer. It has all those tools, plus a bottle opener, can opener, 2 flat heads, parcel hook, and an awl. Edit: This tool also looks like it's peened together. I think the visible screws are just for the scales?

The secondary bevel looks really sloppy. That's disappointing.

I dunno, I feel like it doesn't speak to me. I like the idea of a Magnacut blade, but one of the charms about Victorinox is that it's relatively affordable. I have a Fieldmaster and paid less than $40. Sharpening the steel is no biggie. I feel like I'd rather have a decent yet affordable multitool with an average blade steel paired with a good quality dedicated knife with a premium steel, but that's just my take.

Too much money for me personally. I can ealisy sharpen any low to mid range steels. I do try to only but quality tool though. Steel just doesnt bother me that much.

It does look nice but not something I would buy. I would never spend that much on a multi-tool just for the knife. I'd rather have a Multi-tool for about $50 in my pocket with tools for occasional need and supplement with a good dedicated folding knife.

I dont see the need of a supersteel in a SAK. yes, something nicer would be appriciated, like s30v, but its a slipjoint, with a small blade. If i want a good knife, i get a dedicated one. Folder, or fix, doesnt matter. But a slipjoint? No thx. I take a SAK, if i go out to the city, where its less likely that ill need a knife for anything important.

If they come out with a cadet x style knife with scissors they will destroy Swiss Army….

For me personally, there is no argument, no incentive to buy an MKM instead of a Swiss knife. The main blade is from Magnacut, so what? If that's all, it's not enough for me.🤷🏻‍♂️

At .040" BTE, the only difference 80% of users are gonna see between MC and 420HC in real world use is corrosion resistance. Can't fault Leatherman, they have no reason to _do_ any better when people who don't _know_ any better throw money at them and eat up hype videos like this.

I think that regardless of if the design is that of a Leatherman or a Victorinox, the design should allow for you to take it apart & add/subtract from it what you want. I think when a company creates that platform, it's lights out for EVERYBODY else. Design the tool EXACTLY how you want it to be fit your situation. Design SEVERAL EXACTLY to the tune that you want it to be. Don't have the money for several? Buy the parts & convert it back & forth until you do. The parts will fit into the new tool when you do have more money.

Not just buying the tool for a better steel knife. More and better toolset all day long. So no. I wouldn't spend the bucks for its limited value.
