Tommy Körberg is one of, if not the biggest, voice in Sweden, truly a national icon and treasure. Ever since he originated the role of Anatolij/The Russian on West End in the 80s, I don't think anyone has been able to do this song like he does (though many are very good). I loved the Swedish version of the musical as a child (I had it on dvd and CD) but Anthem is such an iconic song in English, it's impossible to pick which version I like most. You should check out his other big song "Stad i ljus" (City in light") which is a classic song that he won with at Melodifestivalen/Schlagerfestivalen (the Swedish outtake for Eurovision) in 1988.

Tommy Körberg is amazing, I love his cover of "Fattig Bonddräng" from Emil i Lönneberga, a series based on books written by one of Swedens most known authors; Astrid Lindgren. Higly recommend giving it a listen, though I'm not sure if there is a good translation to English. Körberg is fantastic. On a whole other level than Groban imo. As a Swede I put him second to Björling, who on the other hand is Primo Tenore of course and not on the same play field as musical artist.But that just gives a hand at how good a singer Körberg really is,.

I prefer the English Original version from the concept album, still Tommy singing...You will never here Björn and Bennys music in commercials or very restricted in films. They are very conservative how there music is used.

Hahah I just heard your struggle to understand how his the spelling and pronunciation works together. In Sweden we have a lot of sch-sounds (as when you're hushing a kid). For example, the Swedish word for cheek is spelled "kind", where the K sounds like ch as in cheek or chin. Most of the time a K sounds lika a K, tho. Other examples of combined letters that makes some sort of sch-sound is sj/stj/ch/tj. The "Ö" is pronounced almost as the "i" in "bird".

From a French point of view, I think if you pronounce it Sheur-bery, you should be pretty much spot on :) The Ö in swedish is basically "eu" in french.
