My MaxxAir fan lost its mind and would not respond to the remote control or touchpad. The company sent me a replacement board. This video shows the process replacing the circuit board.

Thank you so much. The "solar guy" who hooked up the power to our new Maxxair fan in our camper van fried the board by powering it with ac power. I thought we would have to replace the fan. Your video made my husband confident that he could repair it himself.

Great job! Brand new 2020 camper and my Maxx Air circuit board failed. Back to the dealer tomorrow for a replacement under warranty. Thank you for a great how to video. Maxx Air needs to step up their product quality.

Patriot One thanks. I loved my old analog fan, not much to go wrong. The replacement board I put in had been redesigned, hopefully for the better.

I just changed out my coach batteries in my van and now my fan won't shut off. We checked the fuse and it was good so now I guess we'll replace the circuit board. Hopefully we can do it. :) Since my van is a 2019, I bet the circuit board will be different like yours was.

That third hole is where the switch is located for the optional light ring. Glad you got your board replaced. Be cool!

I put my maxxair fan in last fall. Just opened up camp this spring and it is doing the exact same thing as this video. So I guess I'm calling customer service tomorrow morning!

Nice video. Before I go ahead and replace our faulty motherboard, I’m going to coat the new board with an approved electrical lacquer. This should hopefully future proof it

Both my fans went out within weeks. Called the company after the 1st one went out & after troubleshooting with me over the phone, the rep immediately determined the problem was a bad circuit board. He ordered 2 replacements (updated versions) in case the other fan went out. It did, just 2 weeks later. Said they were back ordered & would be available in 6 weeks. Received them in 3. If many people have had the same issue, why wouldn’t the company acknowledge the issue & post on their website the number to call if your fan goes out? One thing to note, when your fan started acting up, wouldn’t it have been better just to remove the fuse to shut it down? You stated the only thing you could do was cut the wires. If it had just been a loose connection or other simple issue (& not the circuit board), cutting the wires would have damaged a perfectly good circuit board.

I hope this thread is still active 😅 Issue with my Maxxfan: - Suddenly is started to beep every 4 seconds continuously (the first time when the lid was closed and fan off) - Since then it sometimes shows random behavior, e.g. shuts down by itself, changes directions, etc. - Meanwhile there are periods when the 4 seconds beep and strange behavior is present and periods where everything is normal even without the beeping The technical support of the company was not such a great help to determine the root cause. They just confirmed, between the lines, that the 4 seconds beep is some kind of error message. @All: When you experienced "weird behavior" of your product, what kind of symptoms did you have? How did you know if or even what was defective on the circuit board? I don't want to burn money on a new circuit board before knowing for sure that it is "burned"...

Same thing happened to me here. Had to cut the wires. I like the old style fantastic fans better. They lasted for years.

THANK YOU! When I started looking up the replacement circuit board and saw all those wires I got pretty scared - but your tutorial makes sense of them all, and now I’m ready to do it 💪🏼 Fried my own board when replacing the solar battery 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Everything still works fine except the open/close feature. I did replace the gear arm, hoping it was that because it was cheaper, lol, but now I just have an extra gear arm 😂 Fingers crossed this does it!🤞🏼 Er, only question though: possibly it could be something wrong with the lift motor, not the circuit board? I’m not even sure how I would run a test to know… (unless I bought either a returnable circuit board or lift motor and tried one before the other) One thing to note is that the open/close action failed slooowly over a few months (at times going back to normal even!). Maybe that points to trying a new lift motor first?

p.s. I’ve had my fan for almost 5 years now and am a full-timer in all sorts of weather (I’ve had multiple feet of snow on mine, but only once did I have to manually clear the snow to open it) and though I’ve gone through a couple minor squeaky periods, mostly it just runs exactly as promised.* Just wanted to share that in case it helps anyone who is terribly worried about theirs. *only issue I’ve had is that on really hot days (over 90 or 100°), the motor has sometimes overheated and turned off if I ran it any faster than 70%. (It automatically turns back on once it cools off though.) So I generally don’t run it above 70%

Your video didn't really cover disconnecting and re-connecting the power wires. Any tips on these issues or is the install pretty obvious?

Upon further review... vendor says "Solar trickle charger can slowly build up overvoltage" -- which could fry the board? If indeed I must replace the board, would a voltage regulator help stave off a repeat incident? When I turn on fan, circuit breaker gets thrown. I find no evidence of short. Could the board cause the breaker to blow? Thanks.
@jcondon13 жыл бұрын
It could, but would also think there would be evidence of a short. A regulator would help for sure, but would need to make sure it can produce enough amps to run the fan motor.
@NichoMageras3102 жыл бұрын
Can you please post the number you called for the company to send the replacement? My fan turns on for a second and then stops and starts beeping and I have to unplug the fuse to reset it, so I'm hoping it's the circuit board. Thanks!

The vent looks the same as mine. But the sticker with the serial number has been removed from mine. MaxxAir has been no help trying to determine which model I have. I contacted the manufacturer of the trailer and while they don't keep that information, they think that it would be a model 4500K. I was wondering if you know the model of yours?

I think mine is 7000K

This is only useful video on KZfaq. My MaxxFan started blowing fuses. I've seen video suggesting indeed that board can't handle > 13.5V; my control panel sometimes reads > 14V. Please let me know how I might isolate the problem. FWIW, video suggests indeed replacement board is redesigned. Is there any chance a faulty motor is to blame? Thanks!
@jcondon13 жыл бұрын
My replacement board has not been an issue, but have seen similar posts about the voltage. A regulator would help, but need to make sure it can supply enough amps to the fan motor. You can disconnect the motor and power up the board to see if the motor is the issue. I have an unpublished video on the motor replacement. Here is the link kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y-CXhrl4q9HFqZc.html
@3genac3 жыл бұрын
@@jcondon1 Thank you so much for the help. I disconnected the motor and supplied it power directly, bypassing the board, and it worked fine. A thrown breaker would seem to indicate a short, but I can find none. Could a bad board cause the breaker to switch? I have two fans. How do I determined if they're wired in series or parallel? My understanding of electronics has gaps. Thanks again.
@jcondon13 жыл бұрын
@@3genac they should be in parallel sending 12 volts to each. A bad board could trip the breaker. Also could be a wiring issue. If you disconnect the board does the breaker stay on? My fane has a 2nd smaller motor to raise on lower the vent.
