During early Covid they sent me a replacement without any instructions. I don't think I had it clocked correctly. It broke again so I ordered 2 replacements. After watching your video and glancing at the Instructions I just fixed it again. With a little help from my wife I only went on the roof once and it took about 15 minutes. Thanks!

Thanks for an excellent video. The MaxxAir Deluxe fan on our class B quit opening and closing automatically or manually, so I'm assuming the operator mechanism is shot like yours was. Will order a new one, hope the install goes as well as yours.

As you stated, NEVER USE WD-40 on anything in your RV. WD-40 should only be used on Squeaky Metal hinges and nothing with Rubber on it. Silicone Spray like you used is PERFECT!

Great explanation and video documentation. Mine had a spring on the shaft that I was able to remove from the broken part and reuse. I didn't see the spring in your video so maybe mine is a different model or maybe a different year. The spring appears to assist the lid with opening. I have pictures but can't find out how to post them in this reply.

I would think the small female part is so the two male gear end can connect. Your old one was probably on the motor. They don’t worry about protecting the shaft.

That same part, same vendor, from 3:54, is now $41.39 instead of $16.39. 18 months later. Guess I'll just drink this tea...

A Short explanation on this repair part. It is one of the DUMBEST Things AIRXCEL could have come up with or whomever designed the MAXX FAN! The operator works on Motor Resistance. So, when the lid opens or closes to it's max position, (sounds like it is binding) the motor senses the increased electrical resistance and the motor stops. This stuff was designed to break and fail. I will be replacing my second operator on my other MaXX Fan soon. They should have incorporated a Micro Switch of some kind to control the UP and DOWN of the lid! Or they should have made the operator out of stronger material than this CHEAP WHITE METAL! But, it was designed to fail and of course MADE IN CHINA!
