If your Maxxair fan has started making a clicking noise when opening or closing then watch this video. Our 7500 series fan started making this horrible clicking noise and the only way to stop it was to grab the knob and force the motor control unit to stop spinning. This failure would be catastrophic if you set your fan to automatically open or close and you weren't around to stop it.
Watch this video to see how cheaply Maxxair Fans are built but more importantly how to fix this fan unit. We have two of these 7500K fans and we love how it works but since the installation in 2020, we've had several things that we've had to fix.
#1 Sealing of the control board to prevent moisture from making the fan do crazy things.
#2 Installation of Power Control Module to reduce our 13.2V down to 12V to try and prevent the fan from turning off at 2am and giving us the Green Light and beeping.
#3 Replacing the Lift Mechanism (Transmission)
These units are now priced over $400 so buyer beware. I'd recommend the non-powered lid opening units (5100K or 6200K).
