Hideyoshi was unofficial Shogun, until Tokugawa comes in.

Because only members of the Minamoto clan could become shogun, Hideyoshi was not appointed shogun, but instead ruled Japan through a different imperial court position called Kampaku. Tokugawa claimed to be a descendant of the Minamoto clan (whether correctly or not), so he was appointed shogun and was able to establish a shogunate in Edo.

There are quite a few, such as a character that appears later on who’s very good at hiding his presence, this is because there’s almost no information about him beyond the fact that he existed, there’s a guy who was a really good archer so in the manga he has comically big eyes that give him superhuman vision, etc…Then there’s the “Divine Powers” which are a bit similar to magic in the Nasuverse, such that the more Humanity gains influence over the world the less magical the world gets, also Divine Power takes a toll on the user if they try to do stuff too outlandish(there’s a character who can cheat on gambling games as much as she wants, but creating a storm makes her eyes bleed)

Does the excesive stuff like skewering heads n sh really happen or only in the anime, like do they only k!ll the men? What happens to the women and children left? Are they taken cared of and respected?

@@Cam_Ja Well, every rule has exceptions, but in general people wouldn’t make head skewers(they did pick up heads of important people to prove their accomplishments though) and because war is an universal language it’s safe to assume that civilians from invaded cities often suffered indignities, but that may vary depending on the army/commander
