I had the same issue with two of my birds. Very good rollers about 20 feet and straight back to the kit, but also after a while started to roll straight down. Rather keep that bird inside and don't fly him anymore because one of mine died like that.

That poor bird has poor rolling control..I raised a small family of deep rollers years ago that would drop around 100 feet but would always pull out 10 feet before hitting the ground at speed..The only times i experienced any roll downs is when silly me flew them on windy mornings.
