Loved the picks... And what I love most is the little factoids you add, such as director and actors. Too many other blutubers just focus so much on packaging and not the content! Just got the BBC House Of Cards on bluray myself and i added it to my ever growing to watch list! Have a great day!

Hi. Thanks so much. No slipcovers on any of these so I have to compensate with some facts haha….Ha, what a funny coincidence. My tv box set watchlist is crazy high now! All the best

My 3rd time commenting today (like buses, all at once). PLEASE don't apologise or feel bad in any way for videos like the Gene Wilder/manure one. Your talking about such obscurities is one of the things that makes your channel so wonderful, especially to us dusty-fingered film addicts out here! Keep 'em coming brotherman! I'm always watching film discussion videos that have been put out many years before i first see them, so let yours sail away out there, like messages in a bottle they will find their shores eventually in their own natural time 🙂. . As for this latest haul: yep, Volunteers is pretty bad (my obscure John Candy movie recommendation would be 'Only The Lonely' 1991). Last Brickmaker and Last September both caught my eye from your list (never seen or heard of them).. The stand-out DVD of the list for me is Ride The High Country. I enjoyed it far more on the 2nd viewing than the 1st. However - I am sure you are aware of the 'Ranown' cycle of magnificent Randolph Scott movies. For me, they are some of the best Westerns ever made. Especially Ride Lonesome, The Tall T, and Comanche Station. I watch them once a year and they just seem to get better each time. But perhaps best of them all is Seven Men From Now. Highly recommend that if you have never seen it. It works on every level, Lee Marvin bringing that extra psychological menace to proceedings. All the best, once again. (I better get on with some work now!)

Hi! Thanks so much for these kind words, I do really appreciate it. It feels these days as though there is just so much “content” out there that older videos may simply not get found, but hopefully that’s not the case and people can find them as and when they may be interested in the subject matter….Ah yes, Only The Lonely is great. One of Candy’s best performances- there’s comedy and drama and vulnerability and tenderness. And great that Maureen O’Hara came out of retirement to be in it…..I have the Ranown westerns on Indicator standard edition blu rays and they are actually going to be one of my “projects” because I want to rewatch and see what I perhaps didn’t appreciate when younger as these certainly weren’t amongst my favorite westerns and I struggled a bit with Randolph Scott so I’ve found all the more recent praising of them as masterpieces a bit surprising. There’s genuine western lovers for sure (and you clearly have a historical love for them) but also a lot of people on KZfaq just picking them up blind and only really because they have been reissued by Criterion/Indicator etc.

Hi Neil, Richard Gere delivers a charismatic and memorable performance. The stylistic flourishes like jump cuts, hand-held camerawork, and breaking the fourth wall evoke the innovative techniques of the original. My main problem is the chemistry between Gere and co-star Valérie Kaprisky as his lover lacked the iconic power of the Belmondo/Seberg pairing. An ambitious English language re-imagining of the original IMHO.

Hi Ben. I hope you’re doing well. Yes, charismatic and he was at his coolest in this 80s period. I enjoy the film on its own terms and think best not to compare with Godard’s. I like McBride as a director and am a big fan of The Big Easy. Thanks for watching

Hi Neil, blimey I remember The Big Bus, that’s a blast from the past 😮 excellent cast on the film The Last September, Keeley Hawes looks like Kiera Knightley on the cover 🧐 I tend to steer clear of cherries ever since I watched Witches Of Eastwick as a child 🤢 oooh Carry On Cowboy is a solid gold classic 👌 love Cocoon, hard to believe I’m older than Wilford Brimley was when he made that movie 😬 I agree with you in the bike stunt in Dead Reckoning…nice one mate, take care👍😃👍

Hi Alan. Yes, as I recall The Big Bus didn’t have quite the rate of gags as Airplane but I think there were some good, daft jokes….I only needed to see Keeley Hawes on the cover to grab Last September, hopefully it’s good!….Yes, that cherry scene was pretty gross….I wonder what Wilford Brimley looked like as a young man, he’s just always looked the same in the films I’ve seen of his….And yes re Dead Reckoning and Fall Guy I must learn in future to just avoid those behind the scenes videos until well after seeing the movie.

For some reason when you mentioned a nuclear bus that triggered a vague memory in deep recess of my mind... Pretty sure I saw that when I was a kid... Will have to hunt it down and see if I have actually watched it.... Car boot sale finds have been few and far between for me this year and charity shops haven't been much better... Always nice to see other people's buys!

Hi. Yes, The Big Bus used to get shown on tv a fair bit so you may well have seen it. My main memory is of a scene where a guy tries to start a fight by grabbing a glass coke bottle and smashing and waving it whilst the other guy does similarly but instead with a milk carton. You probably have to see it for that to make you smile…..Hoping to go to an annual community yard sale this weekend but weather looking a bit questionable. Will see what happens. Hope things pick up for you.

Some interesting finds Neil. Ride The High Country is probably my second favorite Peckinpah movie behind The Wild Bunch. I haven't seen The Witches of Eastwick since I saw it at the theater but I remember liking it and I can't believe I haven't rewatched it with Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeifer in the cast. I didn't realize that the American version of House of Cards was based on a British program. I will have to look out for it. I had forgotten that there was a Basic Instinct 2. Take care.

Hi Randy. I really enjoy westerns and although I’ve seen it several times didn’t have Ride the High Country in my collection. Glad to now have it. The Witches of Eastwick is pretty good fun, the women are great and Jack obviously relishing going over the top….I think most people have tried to forget there was a Basic Instinct 2, it was ripped apart on release and doesn’t have a great reputation. Thanks for watching

Agree 100% about A Hidden Life, incredible cinematography! I rewatched Witches of Eastwick recently, great fun! I love Waterworld, it's an underrated gem. It only went over budget because the floating set was destroyed in a storm so they had to rebuild it. The Grey Zone sounds intriguing. The Brothers Bloom is good fun. All Is Lost is excellent, much like Arctic starring Mads Mikkelsen.

Thanks Miranda. Still pondering your Summer favorites idea and have seen D’s and Kenny’s also. Although I can think of movies/blockbusters released in summer, I hadn’t thought of personal seasonal favourites. Not sure I have any as I think I just watch most movies at any time of year. Still thinking though, it was a good idea 👍

An eclectic set of titles, as usual!! I went to see Damian: Omen 2 when it came out, without having seen the original. It was kind of ridiculous. Lee Grant was working hard for that elusive Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actress In A Totally Illogical Low Budget Horror Flick. I eventually did see the first movie and absolutely despised it. But what do I know??? I picked up a cheap Blu-ray of Waterworld recently, having never seen it. Didn't find myself getting washed away in the undercurrent of fandom. It was so boring. I eventually started fast-forwarding just to get through it. I gave it away as soon as possible. I've seen Ride the High Country and Cocoon, both of which I liked. It would be fun to see the original Snow White after all these decades.

Hi Mike. Haha, I love that sometimes we share love for similar/same movies and at others there are ones that you clearly can’t stand. As it should be! For me the original Omen trilogy were on TV a fair bit when I was young and just made an impression. I definitely won’t defend Waterworld as a great movie and watching Costner recycle his urine is no one’s idea of fun but still I think there’s some entertainment to be had. I thought you might have kept it for Dennis Hopper but obviously not even he could save it for you…..PS I finally watched A Cold Wind in August last night. Thanks for talking about that one. A pretty cool movie, daring in places and I really loved some of Floyd Crosby’s camerawork. The nightclub scene is brilliantly shot and edited.

Hi Steve. Thanks for watching. I like Breathless too and think it’s best not to compare with Godard’s film. I’m a big fan also of McBride’s The Big Easy….I have lousy coordination and was hopeless when I tried skateboarding but I love seeing what some of the guys can do. I’ve known of Dogtown and Z Boys for ages, just haven’t seen it…..Space is tight now for sure but I’ve got the movies on shelves and in closets. I might have to throw out the pots and pans and put them in the kitchen cabinets soon, or maybe in the dishwasher which I never use 😁
