About this video: New Spring Inventory has arrived at the Home Depot Garden Center! The perennials are rolling in, some annuals, as well as new shrubs and evergreens. Some fun things I found included Lupine, Salvia, Armeria (sea thrift), Angelina Stone Crop Sedum, Proven Winners Winecraft Gold Smoke Bush, and Proven Winners Lemony Lace Elderberry. Even some fun unique varieties that I've never seen sold at the big box store garden center before such as Rhododendron 'Percy Wiseman', and Japanese Holly Dwarf Pagoda. Come along with me while we shop and I share some tips about perennials, trees, shrubs, and evergreens. Thanks for watching - Steph (Gardening in Massachusetts zone 6b) #homedepot #gardening #homedepotgardencenter #planting #shopping #spring

I don't know where this thing started that florist plants won't bloom again. I was told this too but experimented anyway. My florist azaleas are covered in blooms after winter for weeks now, and many other florist plants bloom every year. Assuming you're not in an area that has a super harsh winter, they will come back and bloom again. Afterall, a plant is still a plant, it wants to grow and flower.

Hi there! Its not that they wont grow, they just aren't generally as hardy. But yes, it would be very dependent on climates where the plant is planted. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I experimented with "florist" hydrangeas and hadn't heard that they wouldn't bloom again. I planted them and, unfortunately, 3 of my 4 have not leafed out again. Only one is showing signs of life. And they should have survived in my zone. I'm glad you have had a different experience.

Hi Steph, I recently started to watch your channel. I really love your garden. (1) I watched the video you posted redoing your veggie garden. After watching that video, I bought 2 "3" tiered vego garden beds for my cut flowers and my vegetables and I absolutely love them. (2) I also watched this video where you were featuring plants from Home Depot. I really loved the evergreen you showed called' "Fire Chief Thuja". Guess what today after church, here in Canada, I went to our local Rona store and I bought a fire chief thuja for $29.99. Thanks Stef. I really love the uniqueness of that evergreen with the pink tinge at the top.

Great video. I also bought some globe flower last year and only one came back . I almost pulled it thinking it was a buttercup flower. I replanted it somewhere else and it’s doing good. I also planted the mountain bluet last year ,the purple and white together. They came back so full and look amazing. I’m hoping I get some plants from my children this Mother’s Day. I told them to surprise me. Great video as usual. ❤️🌺🌼

Hi Steph, I love your videos. I have been looking for Native flowers as well. I emailed the Pollinator Pathway organization and they gave me a list of Nurseries that sell native plants. I know Weston Nurseries have several locations and also some Mahoney's Garden Centers if you live nearby either of these Nurseries. I hope this helps. Happy Mother's Day. 🌸

My personal experience with Centaurea Montana Amethyst in Snow is that it reseeds SLOWLY, individual plants stay fairly small & only have a single flower. The (purple) Amethyst variety hardly ever reseeds, but individual plants can grow to be large(ish) and have a good # of flowers. The original (blue) Centaurea Montana has the best traits of growing large, having many blossoms and reseeding (and dividing) easily.

Hi Steph. I like a rug juniper in a container, hanging over. I have one in a large urn. Sweet woodruff spreads prolifically for me in northeast Ohio, Zone 6 (so they say but we were always a 5 and I plant for a 5). I’ve been told they make a May wine from it? I had to take it out. Now I have buttercups taking over that I’ve been working on forever… I just learned recently they’re in the ranunculus family which I love, but buttercups not so much. Thanks for the tour!

Thank you! I've been planning to buy 3 Blue Star Junipers at my local nursery this spring for $50+ each. When I saw the price you showed at Home Depot, I went online and bought 3 in a larger container. They don't have them at the stores here in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Quite a savings! So far HD plants have done well in my garden.

Thanks for the informative tour at Lowes. I'm in the same zone as you are. Can you suggest a bush that is around 2-3 ft that is a chartreuse color for a full sun location? I am unhappy with my landscape that is located in front of my foundation. I have 3 hydrangeas in background. I'd appreciate your suggestions.

Hi Steph! I always look forward to your garden store tours! You have a very nice Home Depot. It helps that I am in zone 6 too ( Illinois)! I had a few questions...Other than the sweet flag grass do you have any other flower or plant recommendations that tolerate (or like) a wet area of my yard? Like do hostas like moist soil that stays wet a little longer before the water finally drains away? I prefer perennials but annuals may be nice too. I'm finding I am perplexed what to do with the damp soil situation. I did find that RIver birch trees do well in damp soil so I at least have a tree I can plant in my back yard! Next question..I was wondering if you would like to include roses on your garden center tours? I find that I don't know much about roses like floribunda, cut, hybrid. I know what climbing roses and knockouts are but I am a little intimidated with roses because I hear they get diseases a lot. Finally, do you have a separate telegram app? Not sure if that is a platform you use or how to send you a message on Telegram? Enjoy the refreshing spring rain.
