Do much of the HISTORY or the NATION is PTEDNTED there is almost UNBELIEVABLE . I was at LAUDRYMAT one there war a 5 YEAR CHILD there MOM during LAUNDRY and HIM watching NOVA on PBS . In it's CREATION it was EDUCATIONAL and INFORMATIVE TELEVISION the STATION WE ALLOWED to WATCH in CLASS for SCIENCE LESSONS in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. It's JUST as EDUCATIONAL and INFORMATIVE TODAY as it was then . OUR CHILDREN and OUR GRANDCHILDREN ❤️ ARE OUR TOMMOROW in this NATION and SOCIETY when WE SHORT CHANGE them in this NATION and SOCIETY WE SHORT CHANGE OURSELVES as NATION and SOCIETY . The NATION and SOCIETY which was the BENCHMARK of the WORLD everyone STRIDES to be or be like WORLD WE no longer are in the WORLD because of SHORT SIGHTENESS on the PART of LEADERSHIP in this NATION and SOCIETY and the AVERAGE CITIZENS COMPLICATIONS to it .. I love that she asks a question...both observation and prophecy...many today actually find offensive. "Now, what on earth a person can do with a Liberal Arts degree?" This isn't just in issue in the Black community. It seems more an more Americans are pursuing higher education for its own sake (which does have benefits)...or simply because educational authority figures convinced them they _needed_ to go to college...without, at least, a Minor in something of _practical value._ It's staggering how many in the Occupy Wall Street movement did exactly this, racking up tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of dollars in student loan debt, only to enter an economy that looked at their Liberal Arts...or English...or Philosophy...or some other easy and generic BS (or BA), and said, "So what?" and then had the _audacity_ to protest when they didn't walk right into six-figure salaries in their career of choice. Side Note: When the gentleman is discussing the need to incorporate more Black literature in educational curriculum, I agree; _however,_ if one cannot relate to...or empathize with...literary characters because their skin color doesn't match your own, that is a failing on _your_ part, regardless of race. Having said that, I _absolutely_ support his point that if people of _any_ race are properly educated, they can then _tell_ their stories (rather than merely read others') and maybe even help _others_ to better empathize with _them!_ It's an ongoing problem in Hollywood to this day; most of the stories being told are about White _men_ because most of the people _writing_ the stories are _still_ White men...even as White men have become a statistical _minority_ in America (and always _have been_ in the world as a whole).

Wow to many black children are failing, something is definitely wrong with the teaching system,, well I know most white peoples do not care if black children learn,,, I could go in the classroom and teach k -3 or even higher,, and I don’t have a degree in teaching,,, teach all the children everything that wasn’t taught to me as a child

@@lillieholmes4521 I find that most _parents_ (regardless of race) don't much care whether _any_ other children are learning. Most parents care, first and foremost, about _their own_ children's success; anyone else's children tend to be an afterthought. As for the number of Black children who are failing, that is admittedly a result of "hold-over" economic disparities of Slavery and Jim Crow era politics. That said, people (again regardless of race) who live in poverty have a tendency to (A) attend less well-funded schools and (B) drop out more because they need to help earn money for their families. While I absolutely AGREE 100% that our Education system is in need of many major adjustments, I'd also simply like to see the government spend Education dollars more effectively/efficiently, so those in poor neighborhoods don't have to settle for an equally poor education.

Humanities at some level needs to be taught throughout school. School needs restructure. It needs to address the student. Not a robot or herded like cattle. Promote free thinking by interactive learning vs lecture and dismiss like a transaction enless baraded if failing or acting out due to lack of personal interaction and personal development. Violance, bullying, and drugs issues need to be addressed as well as sex ed and birth control to prevent teen pregnancy. Teen pregnancy is a reason for drop outs which stunts futher education and keeps one in poverty. Girls get pregnant nut boys pay child support or go to jail. This can be overwhelming to a horny kid and make him turn violent or turn to corruption or both. Planned parent hood should be about planning to become a parent when your capable not just abortion after the fact. Teaching morals, ethic and some type of agreed human values and personal individual intrest is a must at self development and self idenity. This is needed to gain ones skills and talents to give back to the community as well as make a living. Not everyone is destined to be a lawyer, engineer or doctor in which the employment field can have only so many to be profitable and effective. Making a living doing what you love and inspires you vs seeking money only is an issue also. Plenty of rich miserable people who hate what they do but feel imprisoned due to the economics of the rouge capitalism and student loans. Its a slavery unto itself. There has to be a way for a healthier society and way of life. Let's figure it out and make positive changes where it counts. Law and education. Parenting with nurturing affection and exposure to skills and differing talents to inspire our youth. The school teacher too needed to nurture and cultivate students. Care, nutrition, nurture and positive exposure.

Liberal arts teaches seven liberal arts were grammar, rhetoric, and logic (the trivium) and geometry, arithmetic, music, and astronomy (the quadrivium). Liberal arts generally covers three areas: sciences, arts, and humanities. Its central academic disciplines include philosophy, logic, linguistics, literature, history, political science, sociology, and psychology. How to manage in the world. How to read differing littature and understand. However, knowledge of littery divises is important. Poetic for biblical or religious text understanding. This is why many have dual degrees. Liberal arts plus a skill. Comparitive religion and comparitive mythology would be a service to all people as well. The gentleman is right learning English is not white or black its just English. Learning farming or ag is the same. Nutrition the same. Wellbeing the same. Being a good person too. Free yourself from the past. Focus on positive change. Moving forward. Do not let someone enslave you to the past. It is a disservice and disrespect to your ancestors for they themselves endured to move foward not go backwards. Maya speaks with a mixed message. One minute pulling you back then wanting to push you foward but keeping you tied to slavery and racism. ??? She did not stay in Africa but came back to the states. Only settling down to one location in her elder years. Many critized her for commercialism exoecially after the presidential reading which launched her works which till them was mostly unknown. Many stated she was more celebrity than intellectual as per Wikipedia. She died alone and was found by her nurse. So, what about interpersonal relationships? To me it is a effort though a mixed push and pull message. As with anything else take the good from it and leave the rest behind. Look up to no one. Look down at no one But for the grace of God go I. Keep your eyes seeing everything just as it is. Treat people with kindness and courtesy for respect is earned. Always using descernment. Protect your mind and heart. Live tour best life for we all are mortal and will all face death.
