i used to think maya didn't deserve the captain position but hell she does, she stays so calm even with an asshole father in her way. this scene is so strong, she won't let any man take credit for her success and she's right, she worked so hard for everything

@@jahnishaedwards wow lol I started off not really liking Andy but she's a pretty good character and when Maya got Captain I rather it be her than Andy because Andy just seemed so competitive towards getting Captain that she didn't want to be friends with Maya anymore, she also was struggling on making decisions during pressure but Maya trusted her instincts but then started struggling but the fact that Maya was killing it in the start showed that she made a good leader but besides all this Andy is one of my favorite characters I don't know if you hate her or not but if you do thats just disappointing she has one of the best writing in the whole series.

In mythology, Narcissus was a man who starred at his own reflection, ignoring everything around him; like a woman's attention and care, or his own need to eat, and starved to death. Narcissistic personality disorder, it can involve somebody growing unable to process anything which does not directly impact or affect them; doubling with a lack of empathy. The bomber wasn't relevant to this guy, at all, so he wasn't given any thought. 2) At the same time, narcissists can view people are reflections of themselves, not as independent individuals, and should they resist or deny the narcissist, things escalate. In his eyes, Maya's Dad likely viewed her as the means for him to win gold medals and recognition, not the achievement as entirely hers, or viewed Maya like a pair of shoes which made it all the way passed the finish line. And since this guy's son was below his father's expectations, or fell into substance abuse, he was effectively rejected.

Agreed. Maya just stated that interfering with emergency personal (which he was doing) was a crime, so they should've shown him getting arrested for it, along with Dixon. They also should've had Maya bring up her homeless, drug-addicted brother, who got that way because of his own father. And that one guy should NOT have let go of his arm, he should've gripped it harder.

It's heartbreaking to wait 3 seasons and a physical assault for maya to admit her dad abused her her whole life, he broke her just to win that gold medal and Maya is only starting to heal right now in season 4, i hope she keeps going to therapy and lose the toxic habits he forced into her but what a resonating storyline.

Narcissistic parents like those are the worst. They are never in the wrong; and have no sense of boundaries! Look at the way he interrupts her by calling her "kiddo". This isn't always a bad thing as I see parents doing it to adults all the time. But, she is at work. Then, he motions her over. She's a Captain. She commands a certain level of respect- especially during a bomb threat. Him grabbing her by the hair would've been the last straw for me. Totally Unacceptable.

The whole thing "Maya and her dad" it was a good way to show differents ways of domestic violence. We are used to seeing on tv physical violence between a husband and his wife (and of course there's mental abuse there too) but we don't see mental abuse in the front line so much, even less between a father and his daughter. I think they did a great job here with this storyline. It made me think so much. Also, congratulations for their acting, Danielle and the man who played Maya's father were amazing. Can't wait for season 4.

Maya was telling her dad to stay out of sight because it’s very important of the emergency because she’s the fire captain of her teams of firefighters and four Firefighters were in the building to find the bomb to turn it off from the basement.

He's mad at her for not being he wanted to be: an Olympic Gold Runner with all the fame, glory and money attached to it. Maya wanted something better and he thinks he has the right to punish her for it. That's not even touching on what he did to his own son. Her dad is very selfish,since the firefighters are dealing with a bomb and people are in danger of getting killed and all he cares about is what his daughter thinks of him. He belongs in prison for doing what he did and pulling his daughter's hair shows how he is abusive and doesn't care about others or for their lives and safety. I had an uncle many years ago who pulled my hair like that. Fell backwards on some steps. Hurt a bit but I was about 6-7 years old. Never trusted him again. I'm in my 50's now but still remember it like it was yesterday.
