Her arms are so fluid that it's as if she really is FLAPPING them like a real delicate swan...she's very light and graceful on her feet. She really pulls you in with her gentle frame and expression, I really do believe that she's a dying swan...so sad and poetic.

I'll continue to watch her for the rest of my life. I'm now 70; Maya Plisetskaya is just sublime. Incomparable!❤

Elen, I cannot thank you enough for posting this video of Maya Plisetskaya performing the Dying Swan. I saw this live performance in 1973 or 1974 in the U.S. and was awe struck. I have never seen it performed as beautifully since that time. I was recently reminded of the performance and even called the Metropolitan Opera House to see if they had a video of that performance. Sadly, they did not start capturing video until the 1980's. I was bereft. Then I found you and this recording. This captures one of the peak moments of my life. I am forever grateful.

There is only ONE in a lifetime, and SHE is it! No one. Absolutely NO ONE can ever/will ever be able to dance this like HER! Profoundly Beautiful. The epitome of Grace. Thank you very much Maya Plisetskaya.

I saw her dance the swan when I was no older than 10 or 12, and to this day her fluidity, her gentle movements, and her arms -- those ARMS! -- were the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Seeing her now, it's like I'm that girl again, sitting there seeing something I never imagined could be possible with the human frame. She was that dying swan, and broke my heart with the beauty of her death there onstage!
