1) I persuaded my nephew not to throw away his old T-shirts, but to give them to me for alteration.
Recently we were visiting my nephew, and I saw he had a whole bag of T-shirts from the summer to throw away. With difficulty I persuaded him to give them to me. He persistently resisted, claiming that this rubbish would only be suitable for the trash heap.
And I won’t lose anything, I’ll make something out of them.
Yes, I’ll probably make a rug and give it to him as a gift if his fashionable highness evaluates it as suitable for use.
I already crocheted a small rug from old T-shirts. Mikey cut and made yarn. Such things turn out to be dense and quite heavy, do not curl, the hard texture and massage effect are pleasantly felt under your feet.
Not only knitwear is suitable for rugs, but also old shirts; in principle, you can make something out of any clothes to make your home more comfortable.
There are many techniques on how to do this - weaving, knitting, sewing, and this does not require a lot of knowledge and skills.
If you don’t throw away old things, but alter and remake them, then this master class is for you.
My rug will be woven from braids. And it's very easy to do.
How to do?
- I cut the T-shirts into strips 7 cm wide. I cut them on both sides at once. Then she pulled them in different directions, the fabric curled up, and they turned out to be tubes. The length has also increased.
- A braid is made from three strands; they must be straightened to avoid unnecessary folds. It’s convenient to have an assistant to hold it by the edge. This way the work goes twice as fast.
- Different colors can be woven into the braid.
- I sewed orange stripes along the edges of each pigtail, they secure it from unwinding.
- I sewed the braids together by hand using a needle and thread.
- If desired, the braids can be sewn with a zigzag on a sewing machine.
After cutting there was a lot of leftover fabric. Even small pieces will be used for the next job. There is already an idea “all in”.
Here's what happened:
Was it interesting to turn T-shirts into a new rug?
My nephew really liked the gift!
2) I collect them myself and force my relatives not to throw away old T-shirts. I'll show you how I alter them and save the family budget.
Do you want to update your men's wardrobe without spending money or sew a summer item for yourself? Then this master class is for you!
Today we will tell you how to turn a T-shirt into men's briefs or women's elegant shorts. Since T-shirts are mostly made from good knitwear, this material is ideal for tailoring.
Many people like to work with their hands, thereby simultaneously developing hand motor skills, which has a great effect on the brain and prevents dementia. We sew them like this all the time, alter them, show them to others and don’t consider it shameful. Those who need to do it for themselves, those who don’t, pass by.
If you are sewing men's briefs, then the T-shirt should be of such a size that the width is greater than the circumference of the hips, this is for a loose fit.
What are we doing:
- I folded the T-shirt lengthwise and straightened out all the folds.
- I drew two lines. One goes approximately in the middle of the sleeves, if you lower it further, the legs will be longer, the other is like the length of your panties, for accuracy you can add your own.
- I cut it along these lines, unfolded the T-shirt and the sleeves turned into a codpiece, although the codpiece is a fastener for trousers. But let's call it this way so as not to voice this word in simple Russian.
- The codpiece was trimmed and stitched.
And here they are, cowards!
- I turned up the trouser legs and stitched them.
- At the top, the front part was deepened by 2 cm, now you definitely won’t confuse the front and back.
- I turned up the top of the panties, stitching the width of the elastic, leaving space for the entrance.
- Put on your panties and enjoy the comfort!
That's all! Now you have original cotton panties. Wear them with pleasure and share your sense of humor with others!
