Are they all just proving that they have good memories or are they testing themselves? Why so many words?

There is quite a bit of psychology research on the impact of using someone’s name in conversation. Studies have shown that hearing our own name can trigger a unique and profound emotional response. This is because our brain lights up with neural activity, indicating a sense of self-awareness and personal identity. Using someone’s name in conversation can also increase the likelihood of successful interactions. It grabs the listener’s attention and makes them more receptive to the conversation, fostering a positive environment for effective communication. Additionally, it can help build stronger relationships by demonstrating genuine interest and respect for the individual.

Absolutely, I don't deny that. I'm just not at all used to it. My acquaintances, friends and family use names to get someone's attention or refer to them and not while addressing them in conversation. I am in my 60s and this is something that I am completely unused to. It's just not a thing where I come from in either English, French or German.

John 11.25-26 Jesus said unto her I AM the resurrection and the life he that believes in me though he were dead yet shall he live and whosoever lives and belives in me shall never die believest thou this Amen

You’ve got to be kidding. Using a person’s name (2 or 3 syllables, if that) demonstrates that you actually know who they are, and care enough to personalize your comment. I say ‘How’s it going?’ to my garbage man, but I say ‘How’s it going, Linda?’ to my friend.

I guess everybody's different. The fact that I find this so very unusual shows that it's not something that happens in my life normally. Different places have different practices. I am not kidding.
