The slow burn character development is great on everyone. Can see how Senshi now even lets a non-magic user test magic on him. Or how Marcille went from being freaked out around Laios to praising him and teaching him. Or Chilchuck admititng he cared about everyone a couple episodes ago. It's all so heartwarming.

A basilisk and a cockatrice look the same but they are different mythical creatures. One is born from a bird's egg hatched by a snake. The other one is hatched from a snake egg hatched by a bird. That's pretty much the only difference. Sometimes you will see a basilisk portrayed as just a serpent of some sort, The one I was most familiar with is the one they had here. This was a fun episode.
@TheFrostedfirefly

A lot of people have it in their heads that a basilisk should be just a snake and that's mostly the Harry Potter movies to blame (the 2nd one iirc) because of course HP is one of the most popular magic franchises in the world.

Good God... those Dryad fruits were really disturbing. Those faces were so cursed! I wonder how weird it would be getting "the talk" as a middle aged man- though I do understand why dwarves have trouble determining with other races' ages due to their own relatively long lifespans so I can understand Senshi's assumption as well as Chilchucks' chagrin. Maybe I should have posted this last episode, but here's a fun fact from the novelization: The leader of the corpse retriever group that Kabru killed was a half-dwarf and the blonde one was a half-gnome.

Maybe it's late, but ... I peeked at the more recent chapters and found that Senshi is 112. I also found that half-ling's age of maturity is 14 and dwarf's age of maturity is 40, while tall-men's age of maturity is 16. I don't know if tallmen have the same growth rate as human, but I don't think we have to compare it with our world. If we assume all the creatures have growth rate depend on their age of maturity, we can roughly calculate that Chilchuck is 33-34 in half-ling years, and Senshi is nearly 45 in dwarf years.

I really missed the joke from the manga that got cut from that second episode, where when they asked her if she'd ever tried it, she thought to herself that she didn't because she felt sorry for the dog, but then lied to them and said that she did so that they'd respect her- and Chilchuck's disgusted "Really? That poor dog." GOD i just realized they didn't include the callback to that joke with halflings and sirens either. understandable that it can't all fit, but man the manga has some fantastic comedic moments

I don't think Trigger had an issue with that tbh (also they were shown kissing here). There was actually a lot of little bits that I hoped got shown but they clearly had time constraints. They can only fit so much into an episode before they throw the pacing off after all. Like I'd hoped they showed the bit of how Falin tries to teach Laios magic (which was very brief) but obviously it became something they had to cut to avoid going over the run-time.

Honestly what was amazing to me was how funny this episode still was despite cutting some corners from the manga, like how when Laios was thanking Marcille for explaining magic easier, he'd also mention that Falin was an awful teacher because she just did everything based on "feeling". This episode was technically the "weakest" adaptation so far imo, but it goes to show how well Trigger's doing with the source material to still produce such an amazing show.

You always have the option to watch the subs after you watch the dub. The only reason they have the episode visuals in the first place is to "sync" you up, in a way. The job of that is so you have context to what's being reacted to, nothing more. Their job isn't to give you the full subs experience.
