Yeah. I'm amazed that there are still young trumpeters out there. I first heard it in 1972 just before I started Berklee. Back then playing an instrument was common, there were bands everywhere then these DJs started to take the place of bands in clubs. A lot cheaper for the owner to pay one guy than hire a 15 piece band. Sad. My HS band had 100 members. 10 years later I went back to visit and the band had only 14 members. Anyway there used to be some big bands like Stan Kenton and Woody Herman who took people like this young man under his wing and shape and guide them. Even Doc Severinson took an interest in a friend that had a band. Bill Chase and was investing in his career when he died. I hope this young fellow finds someone to guide him. He is good and with the right help he could be great.
