I agree with you 100% I still don't understand why Speed Queen chose to go in the direction they did. It had to be cost-cutting. These new models seem to be going back to "tried and true" methods of laundry cleaning. In my opinion the wash plate designs are not the direction the American public wants. Speed Queen took an easy fix???

petermazbabie What i find interesting about these Maytag washers is that they are now able to achieve agitation like the DD washers without the use of a transmission...just powered by a motor. Also like the different agitation profiles it uses. Goes to show how far this platform has come in the last 8 years. Even the similar Amana/roper/whirlpool models don't perform like the newer Maytags from videos I have seen. As for Speed Queen. I don't know why they couldn't of had something similar to this. They already have the build quality and great warranties....but the new machines will not get big dirty loads clean apparently. We have seen the videos of this 2018 speed queen and the machine is disappointing. Hopefully there will be a redesign in the not too distant future .

I have the non-vended Whirlpool commercial model of this. By far the best of these VMW type washers. Excellent wash action. Short and fast. Like a direct drive in long and slower like a belt drive combined. Make for excellent wash action.
