I'm buying a Speed Queen

@PinkPower4 The Maytag uses the same suspension as the Samsung, my Samsung had issues just with the poorly designed suspension.

Yeah… kinda like how people were fooled into thinking speed queen’s “perfect wash” actually washes your laundry better than a traditional roll over system 😂😂😂 no thank you, i’m not spending 1 grand or more on something that dosen’t get my laundry clean i’ll just stick to my old 90’s maytag till the non obtanium made parts start going thank you very much

I think you need to do a video commentary on the so-called Maytag "commercial" washers. The only washer that is worthy of being called commercial anymore is Speed Queen Classic.

It is just how its looking of this machine is. I don't get it at all. Still using my Hitachi top load washer so whether mine gets broken again I will not replace with this one, but another my most favorite looking washers like Electrolux or LG front load washing machines. I would not choose anything too expensive like Miele Bosch/Siemens or Speed Queen, they are expensive high end price brands, but make nothing special, just another too expensive of the price being like Mac Pro

It's just a gussied up whirlpool. So-called Maytag commercial... yeah right!

Ive gone thru 2 splutches. Both times the splutch gear binds up and metlts/chewed up at the top of the sliding gear. Would this be due to a defective actuator also? Id did change out the splutch and actuator this time and fingers crossed it will last another 3 years.

@@tmc6185 i believe the actuator being bad causes the splutch to get worn out because it doesn't fully engage the splutch teeth...but make ABSOLUTELY sure you order the correct part number on the actuator because the wrong one fried my control board...that was another 300 bucks

@@brianbanks3044 Ohh ya I changed splutch 2x and stumbled on your comment. I purchased OEM actuator from the Maytag parts web site. Alot more $ but I know I got the right one. I just changed the actuator today. I hope thats it, caus if not, not sure what else to replace....The machine is only 3 years old.

@PinkPower4 thank u for all that very detailed info on both the maytag and speed queen! But on maytag, if normal echo us too rough for delicates, why not just use the delicate cycle? I expect its b/c it would mean more water usage, but aside from that have u ever tried the delicate to see how it performs? I was really under the impression that this maytag model did not give out any really hot water on any cycle. When u say tap hot, does that mean as hot as the water comes out of my faucets? I can live with doing my hots on the other cycles that fill with more water, as i can wait to accumulate enough for the hot load. So i may not have to play with the thermistor, hopefully! Was going to go with speed queen for the hot water reason, but after looking at videos of tc5000, i was not impressed with the roll over compared to the maytag. Also, not sure about how long the maytag actually agitates the clothes, but SQ seemed to only agitate maybe 5 min, even less on delicate cycle, and the rest of the time was all spinning! Am i wrong?? Lastly, lid locks! One site on SQ says lid lock, another said no. If in fact no lid lock, would really like to know if that means i would be able to watch agitation and spin? Like you, I like to put detergent and bleach in first(never used dispensers). I wait for it to dissolve,especially the bleach and then start added my clothes? Can i do that with either machine? Do u know how to dismantle lid lock on maytag? I did it with my old GE, which was easy. Just unscrewed the magnet on the lid and placed it on the connector (not sure what its called), on top of main part of machine. Did that for 10 yrs, til machine died. I really need to make this decision asap! Dont want to regret any purchase as no appliance store will allow returns and if they do, huge restocking fee. I have no machine and no transportation to laundromat! Have handicapped son and was averaging 1-2 loads daily. HELP!

@PinkPower4 i am not sure what temp u consider hot. Tap hot would be great even if cant get it on normal/ echo. Have u actually felt hot after the tub was filled ready to agitate? Wondering if hot water started to fill tub when set to hot but then added cold to make it only lukewarm. Wish others would comment on this, but they may not have disabled the lid lock to actually test the temp of water. Another reviewer doing videos on this machine said the hot on this model would only reach between 90-100 degrees and warm is even cooler. I tested my water and 90-100 degrees is really not even warm.

Go with Speed Queen Classic.

Oh believe me, these commercial versions are no way better than the residential ones. It's just something they slap on to trick one into buying them.

@PinkPower4 Well the entire scenario you have given me is pretty much impossible to answer because I can say with certainty that it will not happen within my lifetime. But if you absolutely want an answer to that? I'll go to a laundromat then. I'm a single guy with no kids, I can easily handle it.

@PinkPower4 I was referring specifically to the splutch parts as being the same as non-commercial models. Of parts that may be "beefed-up," some really aren't of much consequence. Belts, for example, don't fail very often, nor do water supply hoses.

Plastic parts are not uncommon. The spin drive gear in Whirlpool/Kenmore/etc. direct-drive transmissions (1981 to 2010-ish) was always plastic. Old-style Maytag Dependable Care transmissions have a plastic gear.

@@DADoESofTX, Plus, contrary to popular belief, plastic gears aren't weak, cheap, or flimsy, they're actually a lot more stronger and durable compared to metal gears. Plastic gears are impervious to corrosion and highly resistant to certain temperatures. For example, the Speed Sensor in the GE GTW840CPNDG direct drive motor is made out of PC+ABS plastic (Polycarbonate), and the combination of those two creates a very resilient, durable, and reliable mechanical part. I know this comment is more than 8 months old, I just wanted to touch on it and address a common misconception. Heck, I didn't even know that the Kenmore/Whirlpool/etc direct drive washers and the old-style Maytag dependable care washing machine transmissions even had any plastic gears. Well, you learn something interesting and new almost everyday🙂.

Speed Queen has that, which is why they are far more expensive than this model. However, to each their own.

@PinkPower4 I think Kirk Rivas should get the GE that's coming out to compete with the Maytag.

The lid lock must be released (the latch removed) after a cycle runs to signal to the control board that the lid has been opened for the finished load to be taken out of the machine. Simply remove the latch from the lock momentarily, then place it back in.

@@DADoESofTX do u get hot water on any of the settings or just lukewarm when set to hot? Above response says she gets hot except on echo/normal.

@PinkPower4 my hot water setting, if at least at 120 should not affect the hot water temp in machine. Its going to sense it and adjust accordingly with that atc. I dont want to play with the thermistor. Did u reset your thermistor? And now u can only get hot or cold, no warm? Not crazy bout sq agitation cycle. Not as much rollover as maytag and may be more difficult to remove lid lock. Says no lid lock, but acc to SQ only means u have option at any time for a few seconds or so to add a garment. At this pt i am not concerned with price cause up where i live the difference in cost is less than $100. Have u had any issues with clothes being too wet after done with this maytag? Reviewers have complained about that.

I have called maytag and they can not even answer if i would get hot water on other settings or what temp hot water adjusts too. After a 3 hr call, mainly on hold. The dealers dont know either.

@PinkPower4 hi again Pink! Wondering if u live in California? Just got an answer on the hot water issue from someone in California. Said that the metal braided hoses he bought for this machine had a flow restriction and wouldn't give hot water or even fill tub. He changed to the rubber hoses supplied by maytag and resolved problem of not filling tub. Waiting for response if it let in hot water. Did u use the metal or rubber hose? My dealer wants to sell me metal hose. Not sure if that would be a problem here in ny, although water restrictions pretty much everywhere.

It is supposed to be a commerical washing machine, still not the best. Feeling it is a downgrade, what about if this one had same durability and reliability like my uncles' old 2003 Sanyo washing machine? Time would tell you will it be anything better or worse

It's a downgrade from my old Roper.

In this environment, plastic to plastic gearing will wear better(last longer) than metal to metal... Maytag's old orbital transmission used plastic gears.

Search more, it's out there. It's so simple. If you can't figure it out, you got no business doing it. You'll get yourself sucked into that machine and you won't be posting KZfaq comments anymore. Don't ask anybody who owns a business to post a video on disabling a safety mechanism, that person has everything to lose.

It is not a safety mechanism. We all survived decades without lid locks on our washing machines. It does not need to be there. Most washing machines dont have lid locks.

Good luck finding some of the parts for those old Maytags. The timer for mine is discontinued and no telling how long a used one would last.

@@patcola7335 That's why they went to these belt drives in the first place. Many love to claim energy restrictions, yet SQ kept regularly making their transmission models until 2018. I don't buy it at all.

@@patcola7335 I really don't think so. The gearboxes on these have a history of failing too.

@PinkPower4 Having the tub go back and forth does NOT improve cleaning performance. It only sacrifices agitation ability. You can just see in multiple videos just how much better clothing moves around with the tub being stationary. That's probably the ONE thing GE did right with the Hydrowaves.
