It says that the filter collects' pet hair even if you do not select the Pet Pro option. The Pet Pro option just collects more hairs when selected. If it already collects hairs without the Pet Pro option selected how does selecting the Pet Pro option make the machine collect more pet hair. Need to know the technology behind this feature on the machine other than hair gets collected in a filter.

I believe it just adds more water and extends the wash time to allow for more collection of hair

My 1986 Maytag top loader already does this. The difference is mine uses water and actually agitates the clothes clean. I can guarantee this washer won't be around in 36 years!

Had a 1982 top loader cleaned everything ,hair and all,and dryer really finished the job,going to miss my baby.Looked brand new to the end,polished with pledge so nice.

Washer Does not work very well - our clothes sometimes comes out with lint on them and or dry spots where the water did not get to

We got a pet pro. Put a comforter that was COVERED in dog hair in the washer, ran it on pet pro mode with bulky items setting and it came out.... covered in hair. There was about the amount of hair I would get if I pinched some off my dog right now in the filter. Why is that, Maytag? Why is my comforter going into the dryer STILL COVERED IN HAIR? I paid over $1000 for this washer, so I wanna know.

Because domestic top load washers are not designed to wash huge comforters. The only thing that can really wash a comforter is a huge front loader at the laundromat. Sometimes you'll get okay results with residential machines but there isn't always room to move around. Believe it or not the larger capacity washer tub the worse job it does because the same the agitator is being used for a larger tub, meaning less contact with all of the clothes/bedding. So the Pet pro really only works with medium loads because the holes in the agitator are at the bottom, which means only the bottom of huge loads gets pet hair removed. Hope I helped!

Because it’s too big. We use with a throw rug and it works awesome. Doesn’t work so good with our bed spread. Just too much uninterrupted material which essentially becomes its own filter trapping the hair.

If anyone is wondering, I finally found a reasonable solution to the pet hair issue. Every time I pull even just clothes out of the dryer they still have a bunch of pet hair and blanket fibers on them, but no more! I made wool dryer balls. I WAS A SKEPTIC. I thought "how could adding a wound ball of hair actually help?" But it did. I have sheep and made 6 wool dryer balls from a haunch's-worth of wool. Used only 2 in the dryer. Cut the drying time down from 110 minutes to 70 minutes on normal and barely a hair to be seen. Black jeans, leggings, and socks were hair and blanket/towel fiber FREE. I'm still shocked. Save the money, don't bother with a Maytag Disappointment Pro washer. Just throw in some balled up wads of sheep.
