Easy fix, hardest part was buying and getting the part shipped asap. Thanks to @amazon.com ....the new one has a much better bolt and washer assembly to support it..the Agitator is the same plastic piece..enjoy..

Thank you! Our Maytag agitator broke off after about 8 years of use. Your video gave me the courage to buy the part from Amazon and install it myself. It was so easy and saved us a bunch of $$$. Thank you and God bless you!

Thank you so much for this video, I just spent about 15 minutes trying to force mine back on and not realizing it was broke off. I have the exact same washing machine you have I bought two years ago. Just ordered mine off of Amazon thanks a lot again take care.

I had the same issue and our agitator break looked just like yours. Hubby tried to glue and pfft. I checked the Maytag site and the price for a replacement was ridiculous! I'm so glad I found your video. I just ordered my part from Amazon. Thank you so much!

Bad design without the support under the bolt..new one now has the washer to spread the weight

We own that same exact washing machine, and the agitator just broke again for the second time in less than a year. Just a cheap design. Sad. Definitely not a great advertisement for an American Made product. Maytag, Do Better. Great video. It was a pain in the butt the first time we tried fixing this thing.

I have a Kenmore model 110.22532. This is the same agitator. P/N: W10836692 I think it is the same across numerous brands. But the same design flaw! Thanks for the video. I thought it would be easy and your video proved it. Got my replacement from wal-mart, so we shall see. Thanks again!

Thank You....Mine had coins stuck between the agitator and drum. I had to breakout my air impact I take lug nuts off with the break that bolt loose. Brian

All depends on the socket size, if you are using a 3/8 drive socket and ratchet, then you get a 3/8 drive extension, you can pair up 2 shorter ones if the store doesn't have it long enough as a 1 piece..besides, the shorter ones you use more often. I have same machine and almost, the same problem! The problem with mine was take fabric basket off agitator! OMG! The agitator didn’t break but it unscrewed and was wobbly. I got parts and put it back on. FIRST! Thank you. Second! What the name of the part to order from amazon? I will follow your lead and buy new agitator! YOU ARE THE BEST! Thank you very much!

I went on the Sears parts website with the model number of the machine, looked up the part number then went on amazon with the part number..it is called the Agitator

I've just had my agitator broke and found your video that could save my day... I tried to find the same item you got on amazon but I cant find it even putting the n. part... my washer is exact the same... could you please send me the link that you bought on amazon please... thank you

Amazon is sold out now..found some on ebay. The agitator for my machine part number is W10836692..if you punch that in on ebay search it will come up..good luck and thanks for watching the video..thumbs up...

I have the same washer and the agitator falls off on occassion...well fairly often. I can screw it back on and it feels tight. Could my problem just be the bolt/washer...can you tell me the new improved size. Thank you...great video!!

The bolt and washer came with the new agitator...you should get the new agitator assy..since yours loosened up so many times..don't want to wait till it breaks altogether.

Have same brand bought less than two years ago and it caught fire. It won't wash the clothes but it will spin for the dry cycle

@@johncuervo3019 yes..depending on the model..there is either belt driven or direct motor to transmission driven..then some have these rubber couplings that go in there too

Can mold grow under the plastic bottom part? My clothes are not getting clean. Inside my agitator was moldy so I cleaned that but wondering if I should remove agitator and clean under that plate? I use the clean washer tablets but it obviously was not getting inside the agitator clean. Thanks for any feedback.

Mold is rare, I would use bleach with hot water and run it thru a cycle.I would not touch the agitator unless you buy a new rubber washer that goes under that center bolt or it will leak.

But if there was mold inside my agitator is there a chance there is mold under the plate? I will run a bleach cycle and see if that helps. My washer and dryer are in my garage in Houston. Extreme humidity.

@@gbrown3977 i think the best way is to help the problem is to leave the lid open to completely dry out after the final wash is complete. The wetness and humidity will just fester the mold.

I'm really hoping u can answer me quickly. How do you get the agitator off if it's not broken. Something is under the wash plate. I removed bolt bit cannot get agitator off. Help please as I am fixing this for my friend who is disabled

Once the bolt is out from the middle it just lifts up..it might be tight..if its not broken then why are you removing it?

@@alyoungcudain response to why I'm taking it off to begin with its because it's making a sound while it's trying to agitate and it may be coins or washers stuck under it. Her sons don't ever empty their pockets after they get home from work and she doesn't check them either so maybe now she will

Comes with a longer bolt and new washer..no need for reset..its a mechanical thing not electrical so no need for any reset

Yeah that bolt ain't coming off easy for me at all ... I broke the agitator just like yours but I am not putting it back on. What do you recommend to get the bolt loose with a socket wrench (as that is recommend with other how to videos)?

Yes a 6 point socket is the best..with the long extension and ratchet..its the only way to install it too

@@SweetMami33 no, it has a hammer type of punch to it as it turns to jar it loose..almost like a tire shop gun that spins the lugnuts off the wheels

I used the new bolt with the new taller fatter black rubber washer..did Not use anything from the old stuff

Also the agitator is all one piece connected to wash plate. There are 3 slots at base of agitator on the wash plate. Cannot get whole thing off. Please help!

You are losing me on what u call the wash plate..the bottom of the tub with all the holes comes with the tub..the Agitator is just connected with the 1 bolt and washer..is yours broken off?

No it is not. You showed your agitator just screwed onto the base plate. Mine is ALL one piece, agitator and base plate

@@donnarichardson2888 then you have a different model number..the Agitator is plastic..the tub should be metal..thats why it can't be 1 piece..unless you are working on a totally different model..take your model number and go on line to searspartsdirect.com You can get a blown up picture of the parts you are looking at..if its 1 piece then it will show it on there

@@alyoungcuda I poured 3 pots of hot water into the top of agitator to loosen any sediment that may be causing it to stick to the spindle but it's not working
