I would disagree , there is lot of room for error and this hobby teaches you to learn from your mistakes. Nothing goes wrong in a tank in a single day , there are clear indications about what is going wrong in a planted tank . We need to be observant and gain knowledge to rectify the issues and get the tank to balanced state For example , if there is excess ammonia then fishes behaviour will change , if there is excess nutrients then certain type of algaes will start taking over , if there is excess light , different type of algaes will start taking over. I believe we need to be patient and observant if we are serious in this hobby

I totally agree with you. Half knowledge is dangerous. Every tank is different. I have a 130ltr planted tank where I have not done water change for the past 6 months. I do top up Every 3-4days. It's a Walstad system with a filter.

Actually I did a very stupid mistake yesterday with my flowerhorn .. Since few days I notice my flowerhorn getting black..but before when I saw this symptoms I used to change water as per your instructions..sir. But yesterday I buy a liquid which ll low PH ( China made) and I applied in water by checking manually before..but when I apply in my aquarium..flowerhor became panic and white skin type cover its full body and sleeping suddnly..I remove immediately and keep in my oscar tank then it became relax and start vomit some skin type .. Slowly it recovery and I use api food now.. Now onward I decided without view any video I ll not do any thing... I am sorry ..for this...

Md fish tanks has been an inspiratiom to me , being an indian and a student he gives such a budget friendlu options to hobbyists , he never says not to do water change , he tells do what is best for you , and morover my 60cm planted tank is flourshing from 2 years now w all fish healthy and plants growing , i use a internal filter and a flood light and i do 20 perceng water change like once in a month I would recommend everyone to watch md fish tanks he knows his hobby.

Our hobby now a days is going downhill with this no water change - no co2 - no ferts policies.......had been in hobby since 2010, till date all my planted tanks gets pressurized CO2, weekly water chang and proper fertilizers .........thanks sir for bringing this video.....

I was waiting for this topic. I follow your channel and like every content. Same way I follow 'Father fish' channel. He always say no water change but the condition is planted tank with sand as substrate. He also say to add decaying leaves from river stream to add beneficial microorganisms

I have the Planted tank setup this way and no water change from last 1.5 yrs. Only top up the evaporated water. Excellent ecosystem I must say.

what I learn from this video is we should change the water specially if fake plants are there, secondly it depends on your tank size, when to change and how much to change, like my tank is little bigger so I still need to change it after 1 week, for a smaller tank means more mess so may be 2 times per week, and the water change should be 20% atleast not like 50% until there is an emergency (like fish death,its foul smell or any other infection spreading in the aquarium), may b my concept is wrong but this is what I learn from this video, one can slowly and gradually gain experience, it doesn't comes within night, hats off to sir for beautiful explanation and the water temperature must match the temperature of your aquarium, otherwise your fish are again going to be shocked, the same things happened to me. Hope I could save the fish from dying by following these tips

I'm a big fan of MD Fish Tanks and have been following him since 3 years, his videos are NOT clickbait for sure. He is one of the best (for me) nature style aquascaper and he keeps his videos transparent. I'm following you too since 2 years sir and I love your videos and knowledge that you share. Also, I've Malawi Cichlids tank and it's been 6 months that I didn't change the water. The water is crystal clear and I've had no fish loss at all. They're healthy and very happy. Just that I keep the filter (I'm using big hang on back filter) clean and also do the top up. That's all I do and no other maintenance.

I do agree with you in 90% of cases. In our Indian subcontinent biggest bane is the temperature, if the temperature is subtropical stays well below 26deg I think its a possibility to maintain a zero maintenance no filter tank. With lower temperature fish and plant metabolism is slow, plants have an upper hand over algae and thrive. I've had several unintentional setups like that over the years. There are 2-3 60liter tubs in my backyard under shade of trees with a dense growth of egeria and floating plants, lilies, etc, these setups are my endless supplies for shrimps and guppies, like each one has 100s of them. That is without filter and water is only topped after evaporation. I also had another tank recently, right under direct sunlight(again unintentional) had no room for this tank so put it out before 2021 winter. It had a few algae issues initially but the tank settled in smooth, it had a dozen melon barbs and eventually by the end of winter the tank had a full dense carpet plus jungle of HM. It was so thick that melon barbs completely disappeared in the thicket. Never seen such hm growth even in my high maintenance co2 setups. But this setup was fine till march of 22, and later it started growing all sorts of algae as temperature rose and I pulled it off. I fed this tank literally once or twice a week as fishes were being fed by bugs and mosquito larvae and had their bellies almost full all the time. There was no filter and water was only topped once two weeks or so... So, it can be fairly said that its good for beginners to avoid such clickbaits as its a tricky unpredictable thing, but with experience and right conditions(which is tricky) its quite possible.

The guy u mentioned as click bait is actually not that bad😅 It's just that as you said that one can't just begin with improper knowledge, I too failed miserably, self reflected and started gaining more knowledge, that's how I reached your content, that was the time i was sure that it can work, started again, did everything same that MD guy did and used your advice of using filter and a diy CO2, touchwood all going great this time, plants are like on steroids, shrimps are doing good and fishes are happy, though i still have many doubts i can't really find answers for, it's request If you could do some qna videos or infact some workshops in Delhi, I think planted aquarium is too underrated here and more and more awareness is required. Also I request you to be honest about sponsored videos, because trust me a simple sponge filter and a diy CO2 is doing the job for me.

Please make a video telling what the hobbyist were doing in olden days for this hobby, relating to all the aspects of this hobby i.e. water change, good bacteria, fish food, removing chlorine, maintaining temperature and all that is related to this hobby as I know you are in this hobby since your child hood and at that time there were no such equipment’s as they are today. Why I wanted to know is because it may be helpful and interesting for some one like me to know the evolution of this hobby. I assure you that even if video becomes too lengthy I will watch the full video till end or make it in parts as you think best.

You need to keep adding bacteria, ideally every time you clean your filter, to replenish the bacteria that you could have lost during filter maintenance, the bio media need not be changed
