Hey guys, in this video we show you how to drain the transmission Fluid on Mazda CX-7. We demonstrated how to drain and flush the transmission fluid on a 2009 Mazda CX-7 with the 2.3 turbo engine. It is very simple procedure to drain the transmission fluid. ALWAYS use the Correct transmission fluid or you will damage the transmission.

You mentioned all the irrelevant easy steps and forgot the most important one on how to check the level of transmission. Do you need to start the car and keep engine running while checking transmission or do you just check when engine is off?

Leave running til it is completely warmed up, shift through all gears PDRN then leave in neutral on level ground and check. Though I think you can check when the engine is cool but I usually just do this

when you drain the old fluid put a gallon of new fluid back in and remove the line on the radiator and put. piece of clear hose on it. Get someone to start the car and the new fluid will run through the torque converter and push the old fluid out and it will take about 10-15seconds and the fluid will look clean and shut the engine off and put new fluid back in and check the level

I had a hose get a while and I have no idea how much I lost and I don't have someone else to start the car what do you recommend? Also I know I've had other cars where you have to check the trans fluid with car running. Not the case on the cx-7 right?

Hi Guys Thank you for the videos ,,, very very helpful . I have Mazda CX-7 2010 2WD 5 speed automatic transmission and I have a problem with the transmission,,, suddenly the reverse was not working and when I drove it for about 100 meter I heard click on the transmission and then I tried the reverse and it worked but it slipped again , I changed the transmission fluid but the same problem .. Do you think if I change the transmission solenoid pack would fix the problem or could be just few solenoids ?? Hope you could help much appreciated .

Hey how do you check to make sure it's full? I know some cars have to be running and in park or neutral while you check the fluid? Is that the case on our cx-7 ? Or do you check it with the car off?

Do you add the transmission fluid back in thru the dip stick? also do you recommend use of any AT fliuid with additives like lucus if there are 75000 miles on car?

Yes add back through dipstick, buy a flexible oil funnel.

I doubt I'll get a response but why did you check/read the temperature on the dipstick? What is the optional range of temp?

The dipstick has two scales on it. the bottom one is for a cold measurement and the top one is for a hot measurement. If the fluid is cold but shows in the upper scale you have an over full transmission and need to drain some. The opposite applies if the fluid is at the bottom when hot, you need to add fluid to bring the level up.

Thanks for the info. My 2009 Cx7 bluetooth is not broadcasting or seen on the phone to be connected. Also, the engine has become too noisy making a knocking sound

My 2009 Mazda cx7 has been troubling me. The engine has become noisy making a knocking sound. Oil leaks from the bottom but not from the pan. The spot of leakage is unknown. Need help. 4.3 engine turbo

Hi my friend I'm about to buy one cx7 2007, but it have the AT light shown in the board, does it means that is needed to flush the transmission fluid?

i wouldn't buy that. I have 3 mazdas and have never seen an AT light on.

Hey, my CX7 has gold trans fluid. not dirty but gold like new engine oil. i bought it a few months ago. Why isnt it red? car goes fine but did someone flush with engine oil? does gold trans fluid exist? anyone?

My 2010 cx-7 2.3 which is a turbo uses Mazda Genuine Fluid (0000-77-114E-01) T-IV/JWS-3309 (10 bucks from the dealer per quarts buy 7 of them). When I changed it only about 3 quarts and a little came out. I did twice around 100 miles apart. You could also use Castrol Transmax Import Multi-Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid, about 5 bucks from walmart. I also purchased a new gasket for the plug part # 9956-41-800. I only put the new one on during second change. It seemed fine to reuse the old one. To remove the plug you need 10mm hex. 2 bucks at home deport search for 3/8 in. Drive 10 mm Hex Bit Socket

Castrol makes an import transmission fluid that is supposed to be just fine for it as well. I'm wondering tho so you check the trans fluid with the car running or no?

I think its built inside at least for 2007 cx7, so no way to change it.

I have a similar problem, I hear a loud whistle like the sound of an airplane taking off. I am trying to find the bolt on the trans where I can add fluid cause I can hear the sound from inside the car, I can reach just about 40mph too and it starts screaming a high pitch sound, the shift stick vibrates a little, I have asked some mechanics and they said it could very well be the trans fluid, since I have a sealed trans there must be a leak. Hope you found your problem.

I had the same problem, turned out to be the turbo blown due to engine oil not circulating into the system. I have also found a few blown air hoses that connect to the turbo. It might have been just those hoses but when I took turbo out it was gone, so I replaced the turbo and hoses.

the mazda 5 takes Mv-5 or m5. the valvoline maxlife atf and castrol multi-import atf works well too. I am however going to go back to the original type fluid. Idemitsu atf type M, it is made for the Mazda's that takes Mv, M5
