My 2004 Mazda Rx8 surges when I start it it also has no power when I try to drive can get some help on what the problem is

no I never did, its been much better for me lately. my car seems to fix itself lol. I do know that whenever my car starts being a little rough on idle I redline it a couple times and it clears up. I think it could be carbon buildup. I would try a carbon clean with seafoam.

Dont let a mazda rx8 motor worry u rebuild it and just go another 100000 miles

i have the same problem the mechanic told me the engine was damaged from over heat ... since my radiator has no water

What were the initial symptoms when they changed the 2 coils?

Did you ever found out why the rpm'd drop as you described my RX8 its doing that and i cant fine answers any where i already changed the ignition coils wires and spark plugs air filter reset the Throttle with the 20 press on the brake and nothing it just shakes on a red light and if i got the AC on the rpm drop even worse and it vibrates like crazy any help ? Thanks

Hi anyone can help, My 2006 RX8 231bhp was driving lovely has a straight through sports exhaust was driving quite slow along the road and something went pop engine managment light came on and car sounded rough and growly lost power wouldn't drive turned off it was hard to start wouldn't idle. Realised that a coil had gone replaced the coil and all 4 plugs, now have sparks out of all coil leads and new plugs. But car starts perfect just have a lot of white smoke and it is really growly popping and smells bad like unburnt fuel. Only other thing had off was the air filter and pipes and wires to the throttle body to get some room to work. Have i not put something back together right or as it got some other problem. I have tried the brake pedal reset. She now idles fine and goes through her reset procedure the error code (misfire on cyclinder 1) has now gone and it will idle fine just wont rev correctly verry grouchy and popping out exhaust with white smoke. Cant believe it has blown something else as well as plug and coil because only code was misfire and it would not start or drive. Now it starts perfect any advice anyone?

On my rx8 I put gas in it I normally run 93 octane in it but today I was in the middle of nowhere and had to get 91 octane and my rx8 started running weird it took awhile to start and it did again this time it smoked and I had alittle oil coming from my exhause I have some b12 I was going to put in and help it fixes it. I need help any ideas would be appreciated. Like I said it has alot of power until then I'm not sure what to do so please any advice

fuel pump ok?? clean crank sensor? rotate coils? vacuum leak?? if you lost coolant was there any dirty coolant in the surge tank?

Two weeks iv been scratching my head also. I have the rough idle and smoke out of nowhere and have changed all the usual suspects with zero improvement. I find it hard to believe a modern day engine just fails after in my case 60k miles! One minute its fine next its fudged! Will have a look at earth cables but I think I may have to scrap her sadly

Always check trans neutral switch.. if neutral switch is bad it will cut the ground to ignition coil pig tails.

what you do to fixed problems and whats working that hot start problem =)`?

White smoke =fuel or water no major , can also be coils melting haha
