Gaming Made Simple some other budget options near the Hankook are the federal 595 RS-RR (noisy and greases up but great grip and cheap) and the falken azenis rt615k. Falken is fairly comparable to Hankook and is cheap and long lasting.

However, part of the whole point of my KZfaq is to focus on driving improvement and the importance of the loose but behind the wheel. A decent car driven well can beat cars that should be faster on paper. To compare cars directly, you'd need a pro driver in each.

No, for many, many reasons. Long story short, modified engines and more power often spoil a car and the entire experience. First, turbo immediately bumps me into racing classes which demand much higher money to be competitive, and in which the drivers are less focused on driving skills and more focused on throwing mods at the car to go faster. Second, turboing will reduce engine reliability. I'm going 2.5 years strong on this engine, winding it out on the regular, and it's still extremely happy with life. Third, turboing will reduce the reliability and increase the cost of just about everything else connected to the car, too. The transmission, differential, brakes, tires, driveline, EVERYTHING will see wear and loads they weren't designed for. You'll tear through gas, brakes, and tires at an extreme rate, which matters when i spend almost all my time racing near or at the limit of the car's potential. Fourth, the cost of the turbo kit is the cost of my racing budget for multiple seasons... i have more fun competing and driving hard then throwing go-fast parts at the car. My focus is on driving skill, not spending a ton of money. Finally... and this is a weird one... it's more rewarding to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow, and slower cars are EASIER and more rewarding for most folks to push to the limit. In the lower classes, you're much more likely to have to win with skill and to be up against folks with a similar mindset. It also just feels like you're trying harder driving a car with less power... there's so much emphasis on absolute maximum cornering and braking performance, no mistakes, versus a powerful car that you can afford to be more conservative and overslow the car in a brake zone or corner and then make it up on a straight by just planting the accelerator. In short, it's highly rewarding to drive a low powered car extremely well and crush much "faster" cars. My advice to folks in always to focus on seat time and the driver... go fast parts are secondary. Keep the car's power mostly stock and focus on handling. After all, you don't have to speed back up if you don't slow down as much!

Darren McClellan you're in luck! Mid Ohio is a top tier road course. Very fun. There are plenty of organizations who run "HPDE events there". Rx8 is an amazing track car
