(Joe) After months working on her paper, Alena finally got the green light to work on her dissertation to receive her PhD. She's amazing. I love her brains, her dedication, and her tenacity.
Ajedi met his great grandparents for the first time. I haven't seen them respond to children since I was a child, so it was quite nostalgic. It was quite surprising how instantly affectionate and loving they were towards him, considering all of the stigma with race and such. I guess babies have that kind of effect. This is also their first great grandchild, so it's been a while for them as well.
Also, it's been a little over a year since Arazo saw them and my grandparents seemed to have enjoyed her as well. I don't know if they will ever treat our girls as their own great grandchildren, but considering their receptiveness with Ajedi and Arazo, I think it will work itself out over time.
