Blockbuster requires considerable practice. But it's worth it! You will discover some techniques that really get you beyond several walls. The strain on your hand turning that knob will be considerable though. My record some 40 years ago: 1250 points (+/- a few, I don't remember precicely and there is no high score saving option).

I remember seeing this thing in the Christmas catalogs here in the US back in the early 1980s, and I wanted one because it looked cool. I never did get one, but I'm not sure I ever asked, either.

Sir! I take offence with your claim that Croatia could run on 2x 9V batteries. For your information, Croatia runs EXCLUSIVELY on 2x D-cell batteries. THOSE MODERN ALKALINE ONES, even. GOOD. DAY. SIR. 😡 😁

It’s true. The Consumer Electronics (Portability) Act 1973 explicitly requires that “each item of portable consumer electronics be supplied with a horrible fake leather case constructed of polyvinyl chloride, polyurethane or similar material”. In case anyone’s curious, it was implicitly repealed by the Human Rights Act 1998.

For the people coming here after Ashens' 15-year celebration video, the connect 4 game would've been the equivalent of 67.54 Pounds, 78.50 Euros or 95.54 US Dollars in Febuary 2021.

I think I read somewhere that the Kodak brand name was sold so the company that made those batteries just paid to use the name. We'll probably see a Kodak pop station on of these day.

My dad still has his Microvision from when he was a child and every game in the console's life span (at least in the US). I played it a lot as a child and really enjoyed the Bowling game. For a little bit of trivia, the US cartridges are all the beige color like the Pinball cart and have full word descriptions on membrane-like buttons while the UK carts are all those bright colors with letters and symbols on plastic buttons. At least the carts aren't region locked.

AshesMama I loved the 80s, lot more simple but technology is a shit load better today lol. Tele was a lot better in the 80s as well. Possibly my favourite decade.

I know. I wrestle with that because I DO love the shit out of our tech and I am grateful 100 times a day for the Internet. But the truth is, my best years all existed for the most part, without cell phones or the web (I'm mid 30's). TV, film, music, TOYS, NYC, lifestyle in general, I'm so grateful that I got to be a kid and young teen in that decade😎

Yep, I'm impressed for the year. I remember being absolutely bowled over with the old LCD Nintendo Game and Watch games. I played with my game for hours, which consisted of controlling a small rowing boat left or right in order to catch falling parachutists. This is earlier, yet I think probably technically better. I suggest that possibly Nintendo's marketing team were more switched on than the old crusties at MB.

Things were made back then with practicality in mind, built to last. Everything nowadays are made while trying desperately to stay under budget to beef up profits. That means practicality is sacrificed for aesthetics and being made as cheaply as possible.
