As a consultant, I can say without a doubt that this profession is awful and I wonder what my life would be like if I didn’t live in the worst timeline possible. I’m also starting my own consulting firm if you need any services.

@gauravbhalerao7420Ай бұрын
I work primarily in consulting and tbh the presentations are not even fancy. Just a basic bland theme with 5 bullets on each slide, couple of images, no animations. Hell even the presentation is shown in powerpoint without even going in the slide show mode. All the clients care about is the money slide which has big bold numbers.

Consulting for the most part, proves that if you say you are something, people will legitimately believe it. All you have to do is make a slight disclaimer… tell the client that it’s going to be rough in the beginning but as time goes he will see the advice work. He pays you, you leave. It doesn’t work, he blames himself or the government. Easy

Something about young confident inexperienced professionals raking in cushy jobs and salaries in consulting but established veterans in industry struggling to establish a consultancy not only confuses me, it makes me wonder if something else is being sold under the name of "consulting".
@aluisious7 ай бұрын
The execs hiring them already know what they're going to say. Lay people off, offshore jobs, cheat on taxes, pay the execs more. Then the execs can say "the consultants told us to do it." These people exist to be an excuse. The whole thing is revolting.

You can “consult” when there is a brand behind you. John with 20 years of experience may have knowledge but hasn’t built a brand.
@sriharimenon75027 ай бұрын
@@X99Zero point is John with 20 years of experience should be a bigger brand than price water house cooper with a 21 year old inexperienced grad (for no fault of their own) pretending to be a John. John Oliver did a great cover of McKinsey and consultancies in general and it became obvious that companies hire consultants to primarily justify layoffs (because they'll recommend that), and governments will hire consultants to essentially rewrite legislation that suits corporations not people

fuck consulting. work as an analyst literally anywhere for a few years. Gain appreciation for technical and operations work. Then move into product. If you aren't doing finance/accounting, or this, and you're a business person at a large company there's a high chance you're useless.

Can you elaborate for a stupid person like me? Why work as an analyst everywhere? What does it give you in the end compared to a consultant who is serving many different clients and has exposure to variety of companies and industries?

The full video single-handedly convinced me never to pursue an MBA. Imagine your entire cohort of fellow students pursuing a job where they basically just fake it till they make it all day. I couldn’t handed 2 years of that.
