I was married for 19 years, and my ex husband took me thru some things, and my heart was torn. because all I wanted was my family to stay together but I was forced to divorce him for me and our kids sanity. I looked at my daughter one day and asked her what do she see when she look at me and she said your free mama. She was only 10 or 11 at the time but she was right. I was free of all the lies, cheating, mental abuse and deception. therefore, when I watch this movie and hear this song I tear up, because it touch's my heart and soul in a way that I cant explain.

I was with a guy for 20 years. I lost my momma and I stayed in heck w him and his family. 3 years ago God brought me out of all that mess and now I love back in my hometown just me and my 2 dogs. Praise The Lord🙏🙏✝️✝️

I treated women like dogs and mentally abused them. When i heard this song it touched me in such a way that made me understand how terrible ive treated my wife and the women i was involved with before her and lord knows i wasn't raised like that nor did my father treat my mother that way and they were married 50 years before his passing. I just want to say i want my wife to be free from any hurt and pain i may have caused her but not free of me because i will be that man she fell in love with and we will be free of stress and drama just loving each other the way God intended our marriage to be.

Sooo, when Diary… came out, I loved this song, but it had no relevance to my life at that time. Fast forward to 2023, so relevant. It’s on a few play lists and I spin around and sing it with happy tears of freedom and peace. Patti does that for me anyway💜
