If you listen to the lyrics carefully, you will understand the song talks about more important issues than mbewa. Infact mbewa is just a Metaphor. The song highlights the importance of respect in modern marriages. It also talks about the importance of teaching well our children and not marrying them whilst they are still young. With the rampant rise of broken marriages these days, I think its high time we respect the song for the message it carries

in terms of literary works, this is one of the best social commentaries to come out of Malawi. If one cares to digest the song there is more to it than the greediness of the husband. Hats off fto the composer for lamenting some negative aspects of our customary traditions. As head of family, the husband is supposed to fend not only himself only, but the whole family. Equally well, wives are supposed to give due respect to their husbands and show tthe correct paths when the husband errs

Lovely Music Malawian Music has influenced Zimbabwean Music a lot. The language itself is sweet and full of jokes. I love this.
