He can't do anything meaningfully different. His only chain card was fortune, which requires chain link 4 with no dup before 4. For anything else, there is no point in chain activating the other traps, as that doesn't do anything different. In fact, it is better to observe what is drawn after each so not chaining is the right choice. We know that jar drew reckless, so that can't be chained. (by staring at the card backs, as he didn't shuffle his hand before the usage) We also know that reckless drew GGH and raigaiki, so that can't be chained together. (same, he didn't shuffle hand before setting cards) Which means at all times, he, at most, had two barrels, one fortune and one card draw (alongside some combination of taiyu, raigaiki and torrential, which require specific activation condition/targe so are moot). He could never reach chain link 4 on his own w/o dup, so he could not play a chain in any useful ways. Edit: Just in case you didn't follow, after hand destruction, his hand is: [Jar, Fortune, Barrel, X] (X being torrential, taiyu, barrel or unknown card returned for GGH, which will be referred to as RGGH below). Assuming RGGH can't be used for a chain link, he can't get to chain link 4(the other 2 possibility we know can't). So there is no point in chaining, so he played jar to dig, which then gives [Reckless, Fortune, Barrel, X], again, no CL4, so he digs further and gets [GGH, raigaiki, Fortune, Barrel, X], still no CL4, so barring GGH to dig, there is no out. If he does use GGH to dig, that would put him down to Fortune, Barrel, (raigaiki or X, the other can be returned for GGH) and one new card. Barring drawing exactly reckless or GGH which then draw into two cards that can be chained(return the other of raigaiki or X for GGH), this doesn't help(and we know for a fact that the next draw is either taiyu, barrel, torrential, or RGGH, so it was correct to not dig)

I thought this too but he drew the other cards off Jar of Greed and Reckless, so you can't expect him to chain them.

Gage is actually brain dead. He isn’t good at the game. He’s just good at memorizing a meta deck and how to play it vs other meta deck. When it comes to actually understanding the fundamentals of the game, gage is so bad is makes me mad. IM MAD CUZ HE BAD

The only explanation I can think of is he thought you could only activate them one at a time, like you had to activate Makyura's effect each time.

the Makyura OTK that got it banned is a combo of Call of the Haunted and Dark Scorpion - Chick the Yellow. Basically, he bounces CotH which kills Chick who you then resummon by activating CotH from hand. It wasn't that good, they just didn't want OTKs in old yugioh

I guess it gives them time to try more unusual strategies. If they didn't do these, each win/loss would be more important

Sidesets give them access to cards they didn't have, One for One for example, and if Alex had pulled that Assault Mode this would have been a banger episode. Some sidesets are hit or miss, but a few chase cards are worth pulling. Plus, it gives them more episodes to try out janky strats.
