About this video: The last few years on the MBTA commuter rail brought a surprisingly high amount of extremely rare “triple-draft” equipment moves. Triple-drafts are essentially when three full passenger train sets are connected together and operate as one train (normally not in revenue service). “Triple-draft” is not a common term, it is just simply a phrase based off of “double-draft,” which refers to when two trains are connected and operate together. Most of the trains in this video only existed because of very specific and unusual circumstances, such as part of a commuter rail line being closed down resulting in not enough equipment being in a certain place. I have done my absolute best to track down all of the triple-drafts the commuter rail system has seen in the past few years, and as far as I am aware, I have been successful with every single one.
