It's Finally Here! Hours of my work on (i don't know if its true) information on the MBTA, 1977 - 2022.
Edit: Greenbush Line #1052 was repainted in 2007 NOT 2001

MP36 Note: The MP36’s are ex-UTA 13/14 and are both at MPI ERIE being rebuilt/overhauled for T4 Emissions. 010 is currently in rebuild while 011 is in storage there. 011 will go in as soon as MBTA Approves 010.

Nice video. It is likely that the F40PH-3c's will not be rebuilt IF the MBTA electrifies most of their lines. Then the more modeern HSP46's will do the rest of the work.

The MBTA isn’t actually making any plans to electrify, they are merely looking at the concept and are likely not going to move along with it due to how much debt the agency is in.

It is probably way more economically viable if the MBTA gets engines like the ACS-64, ALP-46 or the ALP-45DP the Maintenace facility would need way less modifications and the fleet would be way more unified.

What About the New MBTA Coaches MBTA is ordering? Thats literally part of the future

Those f units came out of service years before the GP40MC was put into service. They started to acquire the F40PH in 78, and I can tell you that they were no longer any F units in revenue service by the mid '80s. For at least 10 to 12 years, the F40PH was the only game in town for locomotive power.

the F units were put out of service in 1991, the GP40MCs came in shortly thereafter, I also mentioned the F40s

I really hope mbta ends up electrifying. It would make rides so much nicer and would put a positive image on MA as being with the times.

Also, they did not acquire rebuilt F40PH locomotives, they had locomotives that they acquired back in the late '70s and early '80s rebuilt. Those road numbers were not reissued.

not a huge fan of the future of the MBTA.. i dont like electric vehicles. but now trains? one thing i know is that im going to enjoy diesel mbta trains a lot while i still can.

Diesel locomotives already run on electricity, they always have. They have electric drivers that simply get their electricity from a diesel generator in the back of the locomotive versus an overhead wire or a third rail. I too will miss the rumble of the diesel engine but it really boils down to what the source of electricity is rather than a radical change or design in how locomotives work.
