McDonald’s explores $5 value meal for customers hungry for a deal

With many customers frustrated over double-digit receipts while ordering from fast-food restaurants, McDonald’s is exploring a $5 value meal nationwide. Two people familiar with the plan say it would include four-piece chicken McNuggets, a choice of a McChicken or McDouble, fries and a drink. NBC’s Marissa Parra reports for TODAY.

To add to this, I bet at best, rank and file employees may have saw pay increases of 1-2% if they were lucky. I bet the CEO, leadership and franchise owners have seen pay increases well in excess of 100% during the same time.

@@Juicemanee I agree with you that fast food is garbage. I’ve used fast food to bulk and surprisingly it works. after a good lifting session and a 12 mile run you sometimes get the craving of eating something fast and the option of having that there is great.

There is literally no advantage to McDonald’s anymore. The food is not inexpensive and the wait times now are far from short. The 2-drive thru speakers gives the illusion of quick but just fools customers into thinking it is. Also, if you go inside to place an order like the good ol days, there is usually no one at the counter to take it. It’s about time Micky-Ds was held accountable. They got greedy and lost their way.

And poor customers are like. I look healthier. I feel better. My skin is glowing. I am using less toilet 🚻 paper. And I can feed my family of 4 on $10-15 vs $60. Time to eat at home 🏡 Today, I made 1 cup of instant rice 🍚 and added canned green peas 🫛 to it. I used Vegeta in the boiling water to add flavor to my rice. It was delicious and probably cost me $0.30 total. I have rice left over for 😂 another meal too.

That box of fries at 2:10 is very accurate-- it's shrinkflation. Used to order fries and it'd come loaded. Now you order fries and you get half as much for twice the old menu price.

Fast Food is sundowning, like seveal other businesses. We have a presdient who think this is Zimbabwe. In another 4yrs of Zimbabwe Joe a uarter pounder will be $117 dollars. You will fondly remember back when you paid $3.89 for unleaded it will be $25 by the time he's done. Milton Freidman warned us..... we didn't listen

They may be eating elsewhere but they are paying more “ elsewhere “ as well. Also is the quality and portion size going to be the same on the $5.00 menu , if not I’d rather pay $6.00 or $7.00 and have quality and good portion size than pay less to get less..

I just read a horror story about McDonald's unsanitary conditions. I can believe it. Years ago, I worked for a brief time, at a McDonald's near Toronto. Bacon from the cooler was grey. French fry oil was always dirty. Shake machines were never cleaned properly. Read about what's REALLY in McDonald's fries and meat patties. A horror story.

I stopped eating fast food all together. You can make healthier better food at home. Only place I would even bother with is maybe In N out because at least their food isn’t trash.

Must be at certain locations because where I live in NC ain't no McDonalds charging $4 for a McChicken it's a $1.99+ tax and than on the app you can buy one get one for $1.00

A lot of people, me included, HATE using apps. Do you know why so many businesses push apps? They weasel their way into your phone to secure your personal data and also embed ads into your phone. There is a cost to that discount you get using apps but most don’t see it, they just wonder when they see ads they didn’t used to that seem a little too personal.
