@trepo757 The ailerons are not attached to any linkages, they free float. They are moved the small control tab on each of them.

usually the last two rows on the MDs are covered by the engine, so probably the third to last row

That motor just sounds beautiful. MD made wonderful birds. Too bad DL had to go and cram 160 people into the MD90 :(

Love the sound of the V2500... Personally, I think they sound a bit better sitting just ahead of them on the Airbus, but that's my opinion :) You can totally hear the RR in them though- in the spool up and in the classic buzzsaw sound... Especially in the Airbus- once the pilot notches back into the Climb detent, those V2500's sound like a chainsaw laying into a tree

Delta is supposed to be getting 88 of AirTran's ex 717's once the labor details are worked out and when the deal with Southwest is worked out. DL will add 3 planes per month once everything is worked out. They are planning on using the 717s to replace some of the 50 seat RJ's (which are becoming incresingly unprofitable with higher fuel costs) and also the ex Northwest DC9's - which are aging anyway.

@leonelp51 Good catch... Not positive, but I think it may be the aileron moving up, rather than the flaps moving down. Are my eyes playing tricks on me? It seems to be drooping before and raise on TO roll (at least to my eyes). Either way, cool vid Trepo!

@vfb07 I do believe that it is just a trick on your eyes. The flaps should already be down, just the aileron obscures it. I've noticed that on MD-Series A/C that the ailerons don't level out until takeoff...probably something to do with the hydraulics...@genysys20 is probably better to ask than I am

@trepo757 whats the seat you're in on this flight, I found a flight from MSP (I live 15 miles away from) to DEN and back in the same day. Md-90 there, 757-200 back which is another I really want to fly in. thanks.

The MD-95 is the 717, not the MD-90 which is a bit older.

the 717 is way shorter than the MD-90, and the 717 has BR-715 engine, whereas the MD-90 has the IAE V2500...this flight was on Delta, and Delta doesn't have 717s...

Thats was just a C-130, the 133rd ANG unit in MSP does not have AC-130's

@vfb07 Correct, it was the aileron. If a flap situation occurred like that, they would have aborted takeoff.

If you look at airtrains fleet the 717 looks the same as the delta airplane. Boeing bought the md 90 and renamed it to the boeing 717. If Delta bought the airplane before Boeing bought it I guess it can be a MD-90.

Wrong zach, this is an MD90 through and through. B717 uses Rolls Royce engines, this uses the IAE V2500

The MD-90 was never renamed anything. There's the MD-90 and then there's the 717. Two totally different, yet somewhat similar looking, airplanes...
